Oh, I know the theory...

The delivery of his Kickstarter books was not very timely, either - but I expected no different so that was fine.

I wonder how well he'll keep that going, given that I've never known him publish on the predicted date however long the interval.
He has a paid assistant now thanks to his Patreon, so that will probably allow him to keep a schedule as long as that money well doesn't dry up.
If he was able to gather his current money well with his previous update schedule, I don't think he has anything to worry about.

Man, Stand Still, Stay Silent is one of the best webcomics I've read in a long time. It even updates pretty often (five days a week, but with some pauses between chapters), for such a time consuming comic (with full color, many panels per comic, detailed art and so on).

It's not just CN cartoons, Nickelodeon ones as well. It's a mega-cartoon-universe-conglomerate!

The site has a bunch of webcomics like that. Sort of 'what ifs' of canceled cartoons if they were older and a shared universe.

I honestly thought that webcomic was DEAD IN THE WATER.

I stopped reading when the comic "broke" during the Atomic Betty saga.

That was a break so Bleedman could work on some of the other comics he has there as well as move the Grim Tales Storyline forward.

Not really. Danielle posted about bringing the comic to a close a while back. Unless you read her blog posts under the comic though you wouldn't know... There was no lead up to an obvious ending. I'm glad that there is some showing of growth from Hazel though. Even since losing her apartment and especially breaking up with Zack she has really to be become an unlikable character. She seemed determined to work herself into a rut, never wanted anything to change and just whined incessantly. To the point where it was painful to watch and make me not want to read the comics she was in. Nothing to take away from Danielle's writing of course, she was well written. I've just known to many people like that in life and had much the same reaction... Eventually I just want to smack them and tell them to get on with life. The other characters in the comic kept me coming back though.

In the end, I'm sorry that the comic has stopped. It has been a part of my daily routine for a long time, and I'll miss reading it. But like I said up above... Things change, and you need to get on with life. I'm interested to see where Danielle goes from here.

I do wonder what significance there is in McPedro shuffling what looks to be the opposite direction from Hazel and Zach in the final panel.

I actually really like the way it ended. Sure, it's bittersweet, but in my mind the comic had already run its course, there's not a true "ending", but all the characters are in a place I feel comfortable leaving them. Plus, you can never go wrong with an ending that reminds me of how C&H ended.

This is pretty much where I stood on it. Hazel became such a lodestone on my reading of it because she was so frustrating and irritating, yet remained the primary focus. Not as bad as Candy though. I've struggled to find anything more loathsome in other mediums.

I'm sad to see GWS go, though. It's been a comic I've read for years and enjoyed the majority of my time with. (Also, GWS and QC had some interesting parallels on Friday.)

Started out reading Wapsi Square the other day, about 5 years in now. It's decent, some great characters, but comic seems kinda unsure what it wants to be. The normal slice-of-life part isn't meshed too well with the Mexican mythology/conspiracy theory stuff. It all kinda just feels like an odd mix at times, with a very split focus..

Very readable tho, positives do weigh up for the unfocused plot. Presumably the comic gets more focused as it goes on?!

No. No it does not. It does delve a lot more into the supernatural side of things later on, to the point where every 'simply human' character gets pushed out or retconned into a supernatural. It still delves into some 'slice of life' style issues, like raising a teenage daughter (who happens to be a Siren). Or being a teenager (who happens to be a Siren). The cast of characters gets quite large as well. Sometimes it can go months before people like Monica or Shelly show up. Tepoztecal seems to have been dropped entirely. It is still a very good comic. It's personal mythology can get very dense at times though.

It has its moments, but it is definitely one long soap opera.

We've actually moved on to The Next Generation in Wapsi right now.

2013 was when we had what's pretty much the "beginning" of the newer cast. The nearly-year-long storyline involving Katherine was what turned the corner.

Monica is still there, though. She's just in the background a bit more.

Webcomics I miss the most?

Angels 2200 - It does update on the rare occasion still, but seems as if Mr Haynes has lost most of his interest in the Storyline.

Alpha Shade - Excellently drawn, but seems to have died a death at some stage.

I know.. but the 'oh, I'm pregnant too!' at the wedding arc seemed to have been dropped from no where and then a few pages later the baby was already here was all sudden. And jarring giving their pacing up to this point. I'm not saying anything is wrong with it and hindsight now says they were just setting it up for the next generation, literally. It just felt rushed to me since an arc like that normally would have taken them most of a year to tell...

On today's Gunnerkrigg Court: This... guy?

One thing that bothered me about this arc:

How does this guy have the authority to make these decisions? He's her father, yes, but surely regardless of familial relationships "you will re-sit all of your previous year's classes" sounds like it should be coming from someone who's been more relevant to her entire education rather than just a chemistry teacher that she's never had a class with before and should be done in a better setting as well. "See me after class" is for things like "where is your homework?". Why was there no warning of this before? The court seemed okay-ish with it, so how come he can just waltz in and pull this?

TL;DR He's an ass.
