And yet another week has started - with the cartoonist struggling to try and sit up.

So we stroll down memory lane for the best "non-sequitur" in QC, so far?

"Muskrat muskrat muskrat" was an absolute non-sequitur, because it doesn't logically follow from anything.

That being said, "Cump" is my favorite, because for reasons I can't explain it causes me to break into hysterical laughter every time I think about it.

Betraying my lack of archive-fu here: could we have references? I can't remember most of these...

Everything from "rghfrgl" to "beep boop" have come since the first of the year (though Daaaaaaaaaaang is a long-standing one that has appeared numerous times in the strip).

Cump is from strip 1836.
Muskrat is from 2302.

The "FFFFFFffffffffff" one has also been used frequently, mostly by Marigold.

EDIT: Also, I'm sorry for those who chose "Other" but didn't choose "Muskrat". It was easier to do that than add "Muskrat" and have all sorts of issues.

See, this is why Jeph should keep a buffer, so he doesn't back himself into a corner.

I'm not disappointed though, guest strippers usually have a humorous and interesting meta take on events that most of us don't have the art skills to express.

My dad had some pretty bad back pain, years ago. Second-hand experience doesn't count for much, but I know Jeph is in for a pretty rough ride for at least a couple of weeks...

Edit: Oh yeah. For this week's poll "beep boop" won it for me.

Don't know how old Emily Partridge is, but hat tip to her for reaching back into *my* childhood for part of that introductory spiel. ... Anyone else (U.S., 1970s and maybe 1980s) remember that Armour Hot Dogs commercial?

That's where it came from! I remembered hearing that line, but I couldn't remember the rest of the song or what product it was advertising.

And I fully understand Jeph's pain. I had a back injury 26 years ago that still bothers me at times. With that kind of injury, sometimes all you can do is lie still and hope you don't have to sneeze or cough because that will send you into spasms of intolerable pain.

There have been times, walking the dogs over the last few weeks, where I just had to stop and curl up in a foetal position on someone's lawn for a few.

Oh. Right. I mean, I guess an empty shaft is bad, but a lift doesn't seem that exciting either. Anyway, at least now I'm pretty sure she didn't like it...but it would've been helpful if she said why?

Well, compared to stepping into the empty shaft and falling to great pain/death, an elevator is much preferred when the doors open. Assume it's taking you to the penthouse suite or something nice.

Though if Akima doesn't like it, I have to agree, possibly because there are references I'm not getting. Swaggy. The pants. Cat overalls. A They Live reference. None of it works. The first panels make it clear what the parody is, but I don't understand the parody itself.

I'm old enough that I don't care that I'm not getting the references. It's my natural environment. "Indie rock band that only a few thousand people ever heard of? Whatever, kid." Yeah, I'm that guy.

Annette Funicello died today.

I remember Annette Funicello. I actually thought she was cute when I was growing up (despite her being OETBMM).

OETBMM
I'm not sure what that means.

And the cycle of confusion and missed references continues. The forum is filled with sounds of "whoosh!" "Whoosh!" References flying over peoples' heads. Arrows missing the target.

What does OETBMM mean? Google turns up zilch.

I'm not old enough to remember Annette Funicello outside the Skippy peanutbutter commercials.

What's not to understand about the strip? It's making fun of selling out, and the hipster-ish feel of the comic in general.
