I think I only felt that I should post that because I was buzzed at the time? To be truthful I don't give a shit about buying alcohol myself, the bigger deal is that I can actually go into the bars with my friends, most of whom are already 21. AND I'm planning my first birthday party in 7 years I think it is. I either was too depressed, or too busy because during high school it was always finals week, or my family was ruining my 18th birthday which led to a bit of a self-harm relapse oops I don't think I've ever mentioned that about me on here before, or I was somewhere for the summer working and had no friends nearby. So that's really what I'm looking forward to.

Warn you now, as someone who tends toward depression (Bipolar II, technically, but there's no sign of the mania during the depression) alcohol is not helpful.

In any case, you at least have a group to drink with. Good for you. Stick with a group, unless they're assholes.

It now occurs to me that you have previously posted, despite your youth (says the 22 y/old to the dude barely a year his younger).

I apologize, though I stand by what was said, and excuse it with the fact I been drinking.

I come from a family that is really bad at doing anything in moderation so I've trained myself to not be like them and I know my emotional and health (since I have Crohns to think about) limits, and it won't be my first time drinking.

Good for you. I have a family history of raging alcoholism and a traumatic brain injury that could cause seizures in response to alcohol, yet I find myself drinking anyway, because a few hours happiness is all I need at the moment, and for tomorrow? Well, I have more alcohol.

drunk thoughts: I have the best job. Like, I have work in 4 hours and I'm going to be really hungover when I show up, but it doesn't matter in the slightest. Add that to how easy picking up or getting subs for hours is, and I'm never going to have a life this easy again unless I end up a CEO or something. It's the only job I've had where I can look at my just above minimum wage paycheck and think "yeah, I probably deserve about that much"

Awful loud for a dead guy. It's policy to kill the loud, dead ones. Especially when I'm hungover.

Spent my evening talking to a person who bartends. They told me a story about last night. It was rough. They deserve tips.

In other news, I would in fact qualify as drunk by this point.

That is, to some degree, due to my status as a featherbottom*

*'featherbottom' being my favorite synonym for lightweight, as per Flula Borg, in My Drunk Kitchen

I'm going to go play poker tonight, which is my thinly veiled surrogate for drinking, because I'm tired and pissy and I can't even.

Fuck.

You know, at a certain point, with enough changes between wine, and whisky, and beer, you stop caring about which specific beer you're drinking. Next experiment, do I still dislike straight vodka?

Less than previously.

About 17% less.

According to drunk math.

I have found my new favourite cocktail (after G&T ofc): a rum Old Fashioned with Ron Zacapa 23, two sugar cubes, orange peel and finished off with a couple of dashes of chocolate bitters (in addition to the regular bitters). It's the second most well-balanced cocktail I've ever had. Gave me goosebumps of pleasure :) I was very surprised by my reaction.

Said goodbye to a really good friend tonight by getting druuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunk and high with her and some other friends. Why does graduating and going out into the real world happen? We're theatre majors, none of us are ready to actually face real life. I'm certainly not. God, every time one of these parties happens (and there's been 3 this summer since graduation) I get scared about how that's me graduating in just under a year.

still fucked up edit - I think what makes this one different and made me want to post about it is that she got emotional about leaving us, her friends, while the other two parties were a bit more laid back. College has felt like the only time since my childhood in Ohio that I've felt like I have real friends who actually care about me, and the thought of starting over again in a year is terrifying.

I feel like a train hit me, and then another train hit that train. And my freaking alarm clock was set to the wrong time zone so it woke me up an hour earlier.

edit - currently at that not fun level of buzzed where I mostly just feel self-loathing.

I'm not allowed to get drunk for the next two weeks. But I can do other things. Things that actually might be prescribed to me to help my symptoms if I didn't live in an ass-backwards state.

Regarding the thread title: I am a BIT.

Three pints over three hours, I only feel so close to drunk because my tolerance is low. However. Pint #4 is chilling, and I got a shot of whiskey in the corner pocket, if I should feel so inclined. I doubt I should, this seems like a night of beer and writing. I should really set an alarm to prevent me from leaving a pint of beer in the freezer overnight.

I've had... 12 beers. Mostly all Guinness, which is is pretty hard to get drunk on.

I've also had a couple "not your father's root beers" which is just great.

I'm honestly impressed.  Not because of the alcohol level, but that much Guinness would be impossible for me.  Just feels too heavy in the stomach.

No, it tastes like non-chlorinated brake cleaner, believe me, I know first hand.

And SubaruStephen, ye of the car and human name combination, I feel there is a difference in brands, so my question is this: What variety of non-chlorinated brake cleaner have you sampled?

I think it was CRC, but I'm not entirely sure, it happened about 11 years ago and most of what I do remember is the horrible taste (I will never be able to forget that) and the panic of trying to inhale, exhale, cough, puke, sneeze, and scream all at once.

ALWAYS pay attention to which way the spray nozzle is pointing.

I haven't been able drink any alcohol since then without HEAVILY diluting it with soda or juice (sometimes both) until it's almost nonexistent.

You know how normal people may have a sore throat or whiplash after a concert. I'd like to introduce you all to me, the only person who bruised their knuckles and wrist from drumming along to the beat too hard.

In fairness to myself, the drummer last night was way too good for that band.

Straight vodka tastes like acid reflux. I am not a fan.

Storytime...I was too drunk to notice this post when it originally happened months ago. Drinking straight vodka (combined with several PBRs from a game called True American, which I won) caused my only ever party foul throwing-up situation. The bathroom was occupied and dude would not get out. I drank an entire bottle in one weekend, but like 3/4ths of it went down that first night.

So yeah, found my limit that night. Also, winning True American is not something to be proud of. It's a drinking game where the winner is the one who drank the most.

So I am several shots, one strong-as-fuck mixed drink* and a beer into watching a season 2 episode of Glee where the topic is underage drinking. I don't know what it is about this show, I'm loving it, but at the same time, I am filled with unapologetic disdain for it**. Yet here I am, Saturday night, getting seriously pissed at my internet for literally taking the last hour to show me 20 minutes of one episode, but still watching. I'm drunk this time, it's the only way I could still be paying attention after so much time, but the fact is I wasn't for most of it.

This show is a fucking soap opera. And I am loving it. I feel this invalidates my 72% hipster credibility. I also feel people who actually give a fuck about that sort of 'hipster cred' concept are shallow shitheads

*only way I drink them

**such disdain is reserved for asshats who steal arrangements from innocent folk like JoCo without giving due credit

Dude, I'm bisexual. This is also news to me that we have a week.

It's annoying, but lke Detachable Felix said, it's hardly limited to Glee.

Glee's guilty of stealing ideas, their webshow from a fan, musical arrangements from independent artists, and it was pretty clearly run by jerks. Like I said. I'm conflicted over this. It's fun to watch, but don't get me started on the behind-the-scenes bullshit. There's some severe fuckery there

I love musicals, a lot, and their shitty arrangements offend me almost as much as the biphobia.

See, y'all are throwing out the same arguments I have for the past several years, but it doesn't change that I enjoy it. It's enjoyable the way a Michael Bay movie is, not because it's good, it's not, but because it's fun. Any case, I don't need to justify something that I'm enjoying. Don't like it, you've made your point, and I can't argue with any of them, because you're not wrong. Still fun.

Either way, it's only 11AM, and I'm not drunk enough to do this. Tonight, things will be different. It's the last day of Summer, this is my last chance to run through the multiple 'summer ales' and 'summer pilsners.' I say multiple. I got one of each, Abita and Shiner. I also got vodka.

Tomorrow morning I have History class, to make up for what I forget about tonight's.

Hey - on the "added hangovers" front, I was thinking about premixing some baking soda to keep in my mini-fridge, so that I wouldn't have to deal with going to the shared kitchen for a measuring spoon (and maybe keeping a bottle in my car for heartburn), and I was wondering whether there was any reason not to do this?  Like, will it stop working after a while?

(Anyway, if we're on the topic of musicals, gonna plug the Zdunich movies again.  Hey, he told me to!)

Not drunk yet, but just want to give some context for what I might post on this thread later tonight: Tonight, I am going to, semi-willingly, attend the cast party for my school's production of Enemy of the People, which I sound designed. This is a production which has the lowest morale I've ever seen, pretty much everyone is in agreement that it's going very poorly. Actors have been at each other's throats throughout the entire process. There are a lot of freshmen involved.

Should be a fun? time. I mean we're theatre people, cast parties wouldn't be interesting without SOME drama. But in four years (six if you count high school) I have never actually seen a cast that hated each other and the show they're doing quite as much as this one.

Last night featured, among other things, two public meltdowns (as predicted), a hole punched (actually accidentally elbowed) into the wall, flickering lights due to the storm, and a frightening but fortunately brief and trouble-free visit from our friendly neighborhood lawmen (I've been in parties that were broken up by the cops before, but I don't think I EVER have seen a room get that quiet that quickly - there were a lot of freshmen at this one). I drank substandard beer (Hi-Wire IPA, not a good use of $10), took shots, danced (?!), lost at Smash, and played circle of death. So I mostly had a good time. But I did have a lowlight of saying a lot of anxiety-fueled, self-deprecating things to a crush. Something about how I feel like I'm a selfish asshole who is just trying to pretend not to be in order to fit in.
