I can't be the only one who thought for a very long time that 'soul patch' was really 'sole patch' because it was the sole patch of hair on someone's face.  right?

Hrrm.  If Dale is going to be making more regular appearances, I hope Jeph does something to make him a more likable character.

I'm already taking off points for not liking a car that smells like pizza.  I considered that a bonus back when I worked in pizza delivery.

  • Steampunk. EXPLAIN IT!

Jeph has got to start the obvious Marigold/Dale love arc somehow, I guess injecting him into Coffee of Doom would be a good way to start.

*Edit: Added the word obvious, because I didn't make it want to seem like I'm shipping, I just feel like that's what Jeph is going to do, narrative causality compels him. I mean the tsundere Anime relationship parallel is just too good to pass up for Marigold.

I hate it.

I don't want Dale working at COD.  I mean, she's already got THREE employees, and is really so busy that she needs a fourth?  Obviously, we have no way of knowing that, so clearly that's not what bothers me about it.  It just doesn't fit that he'd work there.  UUUUUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHH i really don't like it.  He's just a random throw-in character that no one really knows but Marigold?  Why throw him into the COD mix?  Why not just have him talk to Marigold and bring him in that way?  Besides, it... just.... dammit, it's just not right.

Le sigh.

Welcome, new person!

Thank you for checking the rules first. In this case, the comic itself has shown some standard tropes of the boy-meets-girl plot. This would be considered "speculation" rather than "shipping".

A CoD employee without a uterus? Inconceivable!

Actually, the ability to conceive generally requires the presence of participants both with and without uteri.

And yes, it being 2:30 A.M. in my timezone has made me completely forget that the "bitchy female barista" thing is part of their image and Dora already wouldn't hire Marten partly because of that.

  • That's a smashing blouse. FELLA!

Dale's close enough to Dora to have access to the Secret MenuTM. On phone so can't archive-fu it up. So I don't think it's out of nowhere for him to chance asking.
Unless one of the other workers suddenly becomes less available, I don't see Dale getting a job. It would be nice to see more of him.

  • The distilled essence of Mr. James Beam himself.

I think he won't be hired, but he'll be hanging around just long enough to run into a slightly smelly, bed-rumpled Marigold as she gets her "morning" coffee.

Whereupon they will both embarrass themselves and each other with their bizarre flirting rituals, purple pants and glowing glasses.

Yay for Dale working on CoD. I always thought QC needed more regular male characters. I'd prefer to see more of Steve, but I think Dale is a great character with a lot of potential.

I hope Dale hasn't been playing Beethoven while delivering pizza...

I also hope he doesn't get hired at the CoD. It would feel a bit forced, I think. I mean... Dora, Fay, Hanners, Penelope, Cosette... How many baristas does Dora need?

^this. I'm seriously hoping dora shoots him down.

I hope she doesn't shoot him down. I hope she politely says she isn't hiring. After spending all day walking around town, asking "You wouldn't happen to be hiring, would you?", getting shot down by a close acquaintance is not what a soul needs.

But the other trope relating to that phrase is that nobody is ever hiring, so likely he won't get a job at CoD, but as Carl-E said, he has arrived at just the right moment for Marigold to soon wish she'd put on real pants.

Don't get me wrong, I do want ot see more of Dale, and possibly even Dale/Marigold (should such a thing ever actually occur), but i think him working at CoD is a TERRIBLE idea, any way you look at it.

The Penelope fanboy in me is saddened that another CoD employee means even less of a chance of a Penelope appearance.  Which is bad since I can't remember the last time we've actually seen Penelope.

At least one more? Raven is still technically employed there IIRC, though on reduced hours…

Hey, maybe Penelope could get Dale hired on at the Horrible Revelation through whatshisname?

Obviously a setup for running into Marigold, but ...

As a member of the Pizza Guild, would Dale know Pene ... er, Pizza Girl's secret? Would hilarity ensue? Or is that what we're expected to expect of the gag which Will Never Be Explained?

I for one am looking forward to seeing more of Dale, and even more so Dale/Marigold if it happens. The "Dale is creepy" faction are just intolerant, or much worse observers of human nature than JJ.  Dale is just clueless and over-enthusiastic about things -- an overgrown fourteen-yearold, in fact.
