Hahaha nope. My usual internet speed peaks at about 10 KB/s, which is why I'm more than a little surprised at this development.

The difference being the one on the right doesn't have a choice in the matter and in many Muslim nations (here defined as a nation ruled by a Muslim theocracy at least in part that has instituted full Sharia law or keeps it's laws rooted in the same) the courts are wildly biased against women, especially on clothing violations. It's the next level of victim blaming. "She was dressed like she wanted it" becomes "Even with all we have put in place to prevent women's temptation of men, still she managed to beguile poor Ricky, such an evil creature! Stone her immediately!"

Obviously I think laws like the one you're referring to are awful, and oppressive, but I was also flabbergasted when my friend told me that her little sister (19 years old) believes that it should be illegal in this country to wear full coverings, because "if I went to their country I wouldn't be allowed to wear a bikini so why should they be allowed to dress differently from what's normal here?". Um. Right. Yes.

If it's your CHOICE you should be able to wear whatever the hell you want. The average woman in a Burka doesn't have much in the way of choice for anything. This is not true in all Muslim nations however, though it can be true in families and sub cultures within those nations. For example the nation of Jordan does not require Sharia dress for women or men, and most people are fairly westernized, some people like my good friend and long term correspondant Amira chose the hijad (a head covering that is probably the lowest tier of muslim dress and is commonly worn with "normal" if conservative western street clothes) for herself as an expression of her faith. That should be perfectly fine. Beating a woman because she decided to show some ankle is not.

Well, yeah. At the point that pic was taken, there wasn't much activity... but it shows as having peaked at over 3 EXAbytes a second. It would be difficult to think what couldn't be transmitted instantly over that kind of speed.

Well, yeah. At the point that pic was taken, there wasn't much activity... but it shows as having peaked at over 3 EXAbytes a second. It would be difficult to think what couldn't be transmitted instantly over that kind of speed.

Just to clarify, the 4.8KB/s was kinda fast for my normal internet speeds. I need better internets.
The bug showed up when I was installing Skyrim from a DVD; it copied the game from the disc but then started downloading a patch. I think Steam was showing the download/install progress as 0% while the disc was copied, then suddenly recognised 5 gig of data at once. That'd probably cause a spike like that.
