Can we get mods ruling? I see nothing wrong with it.. I think they are funny. Personally, I think it's like telling people to stop the cat pictures because they hate cats. It just seems like being overly sensitive about comedy... perhaps a compromise of putting them in spoilers? Also.. letting me know how to use spoilers? There isn't a button I can see for it.. unless it's something like spoiler=<text> in brackets and you put the image between the tags?

And it's not that there's anything inherently wrong with those pictures, but if anything makes someone else uncomfortable, why would that not be enough to a decent person? Spoiler tags seem a fair compromise as long as they're marked "Jesus", but I haven't brought that to the rest of the mods, so this is not an official decision.

Word of advice though, maybe don't call people overly sensitive because something they hold dear is mocked and they don't like it.

The reason I said what I said was because if I don't like something or find it offensive, I just don't look at it or move past it. Maybe other people have different thoughts, but I assumed that is what other people were like :/ I'll do the spoiler thing.

There are so many buttons I didn't know about since I always use the quick reply or Tapatalk. And Kyomi, you can't "just not look at it" if you've already seen it. It's really just courtesy to not make people see things they aren't comfortable seeing if you can easily avoid it.

It's not hard; if you are member of a community, and another member asks you not to do something because it offends them, you stop it and move on. I am not going to provide specific rules for avoiding every possible upset - just take note when you become aware or are made aware of issues. As another instance, there is someone here who finds spiders to be a trigger; I would avoid posting an image of a spider here without a warning because of that - but I'm not going to make it a rule, because it's just part of getting along (and now you know about it too).

But the Jesus pictures, like most manufactured memes, are IMO just not really funny in any case.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I've had a busy day. I asked you to stop because the frequency and number of jokes about Jesus were making me uncomfortable. I realise that I'm in a minority as an active Christian but the members of the forum who are trans are also in a minority and it wouldn't be considered acceptable to make jokes about being trans, or racial jokes etc etc. Some jokes about religion are funny (the joke about the man who refused two boats and a helicopter rescue in a flood before drowning is one of my favourites) but the only humour in those images comes from the fact that they're mocking Christ.

It's not meant to be censorship, and I don't usually comment on the occasional image that makes me uncomfortable, but it was quite a lot in quick succession.

I don't know. I mean...maybe? It's taking a familiar setting and using it as the background for a play on words. I wouldn't say it's a mockery but I wouldn't say someone was wrong for thinking it is. Religion's complicated and a lot of things are complicated because of that.

There is an actual pun, requiring a slightly less than trivial religious knowledge; it works without the dreadful image, which actually contributes nothing. The earlier ones aren't really even jokes (like so many Internet memes).
