I like Social Darwinism, but then again I'm a step to the left of being a complete misanthrope. So any excuse for more the species to die off.

An important sexual health PSA.

An especially vital reminder as we all head towards Halloween parties tonight. Try not to stare, you could get her pregnant.

Ohsnap!

That is why I said "poisoned", I am hopeful that it's not heading there but with everything I see in everyday life, it's hard to not think of that. Sooo many stupid things that make no sense and of course there's the massive lack of spelling in quite an alarming amount of things.

GM: I don't know about you but I'm getting tired of people endlessly rebooting the same thing.
Hollywood: Let. It. Go. ...Please.

The only reasons I watched the other Spiderman movies is because of Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell. That is it.

Re: Warning labels-

How about we just get rid of the really stupid ones? Some of my personal favorites:

"Do not eat" (iPod shuffle)
"Do not use while sleeping" (Vidal Sassoon Hair Dryer)
"Do not put child inside" (Rubbermaid storage bin)
"Safety goggles recommended" (letter opener)
"May cause drowsiness" (Nytol sleeping pills)

Then again, if we got rid of all the really absurd warning labels, we'd have one less thing in the world to laugh about  :-D

Just... no. I'm going to agree to disagree on this whole thing and end it now, it's getting to me way too much. Obviously we don't see things the same way and this isn't going to end well.

Back to the regulary unscheduled madness...

Thor is indeed pretty.. hooray for that little girl :)

Obviously we don't see things the same way and this isn't going to end well.

Not "seeing it the same way" doesn't change that people with peanut allergies don't necessarily have nut allergies, though.

Edit: PeaNUT... *sigh*

They're nutritionally similar and thus usually work that way as far as human food is concerned, but the naming convention is just out of convenience. They're legumes, like peas or beans.

"Yes! Oh, yes! I've been dreaming of this day! Can I make my wish now and become a magical girl?"

"And most important of all: You are not a girl, dude. You're a dude."

Hey, kid: Fuck you. Don't do that to people. :x

Which reboot? I honestly can't remember what was the original.. so many different variables and reboots

On the topic of reboots, ReBoot is getting one by Rainmaker (used to be Mainframe). This deserves a sexy party,

Woah.. that still picture of the youtube video is trippy...

The botanical definition of nut and the common culinary definition of nut are different, and each is valid in its own sphere of usage:

True (botanical) nuts:

Beech (Fagus)
Chestnut (Castanea)
Oak (Quercus)
Stone-oak (Lithocarpus)
Tanoak (Notholithocarpus)
Family Betulaceae
Hazel, Filbert (Corylus)
Hornbeam (Carpinus)

Seeds which are not botanical nuts, but are commonly called so:

Almonds (edible seeds of drupe fruits)
Brazil nut  (seed from a capsule)
Candlenut
Cashew (seed of an accessory fruit)
Chilean hazelnut or Gevuina
Macadamia (kernel of a follicle type fruit)
Malabar chestnut
Pecan (seed of a drupe fruit)
Mongongo
Peanut (seed from a species of legume)
Pine nut (seed of several species of pine)
Pistachio (seed of a thin-shelled drupe)
Walnut (Juglans)

As you see, rather few nuts are even edible!  But in my experience, people with an allergy to one seed (peanut, especially) are appropriately cautious about approaching any other seed, whether called a nut or not.

Brazil Nuts, Walnuts, and Cashews kick ass. Peanuts are also super tasty.

Almonds suck.

Almonds are okay in extremely small doses, or crushed up and put inside of things.

Thus the thought that removing said labels would in fact improve the species via natural selection.

Am considering running to the supermarket to buy treats for trick or treaters. I can hear them in the street but no one has rung my doorbell yet. But I am about to go out for two hours - probably no point. Booo, I wanna see cute little kids in costumes.

did you put up any decor? Most kids avoid houses that do not have decorations.  Got to see the daycare kids walk around the building trick or treating.  was cute.

I got home mid-afternoon, and since I live on the first floor (second floor to you USAians) with silly windows with no ledges I couldn't really decorate. Where I lived as a kid we'd get people coming to the door even though we never decorated. But I guess living next door to a working men's club, in a building which until less than a year ago was part of the club, probably doesn't scream "family friendly household".

working men's club... a brothel with male mistresses?

we didnt trick or treat until it got dark when/where I was growing up.  I hear other places usually do it with the sun up?

I figured it was either a pub that attracts a blue collar clientel or a low rent strip club.

Kind of what I was thinking. I could totally see the latter as far as being not family friendly...but also why the rent for her flat might be low. Location, location location?

Um, no, a working men's club is a sort of pub for men who work. Except as of a few months ago, women are allowed to become members, and I'm not sure you're required to prove that you have a job (but you do have to be nominated by an existing member). Do those not exist elsewhere?

Yeah I've never heard of that. In Norway there's not much of a pub culture, and I only really go to student-y pubs here in Glasgow.

No, not into a Pub, but Workingmens Clubs are a different Kettle of Fish.

This is the local one here in the Hutt Valley.  Only been there once on an invite earlier this year.

Am considering running to the supermarket to buy treats for trick or treaters. I can hear them in the street but no one has rung my doorbell yet. But I am about to go out for two hours - probably no point. Booo, I wanna see cute little kids in costumes.

This is the one time in the year when I really am a grumpy old git - I do not like middle-class kids (or any other - but that's what I get to be inflicted with) being taught to go round to the houses of strangers to demand gifts with menaces - what I believe is known as begging.

And now, to improve the mood, have some MLPxEvangelion images:

In the Star Trek primary timeline, there have been nine space craft named Enterprise
And the Soviet space program never existed, at least according to ST:Enterprise's notorious opening credits... Actually, if you look carefully, you can see a Soyuz (or possibly Progress) docked with the ISS, but that hardly excuses omitting the first artificial orbital satellite, and the first man, and the first woman in space...

The botanical definition of nut and the common culinary definition of nut are different, and each is valid in its own sphere of usage
Much as shellfish, lobsters etc. are classified by cooks as fish, when cows, pigs, sheep and human beings are more closely related to fish than they are.

I can skip the MRAP though. Those things are terrible.
I think it's got that W40K look; ugly, massive, clunky, top-heavy... Just paint it some impractical colour like red, put some skulls on it, and you're done!

It features the X-33 too and that doesn't even exist as more then a concept sketch. There's an argument to be made or had here, but to be be honest, I just don't care. At all.

Now THIS I will make an argument about. The primary 40k APCs are low slung tracked designs, based on the M113 APC (the Rhino) and the BMP family (Imperial Guard Chimera)

You could probably even get the the v pattern anti IED hull on there without too much problem. Also unlike the MRAP the M113 (and by extension the Rhino) actually functions without constant massive maintenance and overhaul. MRAPs are a symbol of the DoD being utterly broken to me. A specific use tool that cost a fortune and the bulk of troops hated that we aren't even bothering to fly back.

The mainstay APCs for the Imperium are indeed somewhat sensible (Leman Russ notwithstanding), but 40K does have a great deal of vehicles that are just obtuse; rocket-spewing pipe organs, flying space churches, walkers of ANY form, and the Eldar who are absolutely incapable of designing any technology and not having it look like a marital aid.
