So, commentary on (what I suspect is) Friday's comic:

If this were anyone but Emily, I feel like this could potentially be an insulting reaction.  But Emily is....well, she's weird and quirky, but if you take her down to basics she's basically the avatar of Innocence.  Emily loves everyone, and while Claire seems to have a good handle on her transition and the people in her life, having someone just bear hug you and say in so many words that they love you and you're awesome...that seems like a good thing.  Emily is just impressing the HELL out of me with her reaction, and I feel like Claire basically won the lottery with the friendships she fell into - her work crew are the most accepting people EVER.

I have personal issues with high heels. I cannot help but see them as like another form of foot-binding, but one that nowadays we inflict on ourselves.

It is difficult to judge today's strip (2572) without the lead-up strip. It seems as if Claire is just blurting out her background. And yes, as others have pointed out, Emily is a bit of a dice-roll.

You will have to excuse me for going on what I can see and not what I couldn't see. I didn't see the setup to make that assumption, but I did see something that leads me to believe that she might not have meant to tell her or she was trying to tell her but was cut off by the hug

It's possible, but I think he'd have at least changed the title if he'd decided to skip a strip.  Also, I doubt he'd decide that; he's shown he's willing to update at eight in the morning, if need be, or just throw Yelling Bird in.

I think it is quite obvious that she has already told her. What she says in panel three would be a very odd way to introduce the subject. I am not at all certain that the missing page shows her telling. It is not necessary to understand this one.

Yeah... I think in #2571 Emily asks Claire how many boys she's kissed/boyfriends she's had, and HIJINKS as Claire awkwardly avoids the topic, until in panel 4 she actually tells Emily she's trans. That seems to link well with 2570 and 2572, and helps to explain why we haven't seen it yet; I don't envy Jeph, it'd be incredibly hard to get right.

Nothing in his twitter feed or his blog to say about the missing page. I have already read #2572, and while Emily might be a wildcard, I trust she will be respectable about the whole thing, but... I kind of want to unread it until I know what happens in #2571. I'm that sort of person. Jeph must be working overtime to make sure that it comes out right (chances are good that, to do it properly, 2572 might end up as 2573...)

Still, Claire is brave as hell to come forward to Emily like that! I can see the shapes of the sorts of nightmare precautions that you trans* folk have to face day to day, but... maybe a better world can start with simple gestures like this.

Absent seeing comic 2571 -- I'll jump on the bandwagon of ridiculously-unlikely-and-shortly-to-be-refuted speculation and wonder if Claire was about to tell Emily she's trans -- ferring to another college.

I didn't even notice that this was not supposed to be today's comic until I tried to go back to the previous one.
I just assumed Jeph was skipping the Emily asks Claire about number of boys kissed scene to go right to Claire's coming-out to Emily.
Also, I read Emily's reaction as admiring Claire for the brave pursuit of her real personality and didn't find it that weird - I guess Emily realises that Claire's was not an easy road to take and that she seems to be doing well at the moment.

Well, since many of us have seen tomorrow's comic, I'll go ahead and comment on it: Emily may be weird and flighty and oblivious, but underneath it all she is a very good-hearted person. And that makes up for a lot.
