I don't get athiesm.
How can someone believe so strongly in not believing in anything?

Because unfortunately, the fact that people believe there is something as strongly as the religious right does, greatly affects how the politics and laws of a country turn out, changes its social structure and in general, over the long term, fucks up many things which many scientifically and equal rights minded people enjoy.

Admittedly that was over the top and not terribly productive, but still hilarious.

Guys, when did we actually start paying attention to what Darryl posts? He will go into a thread, post a glib statement and everyone gets annoyed at him for it and he replies with "guys, I wasn't being serious, jeez. None of my post are actually serious". We have seen this before, his post about putting less effort into posting was obviously supposed to be facetious (but I think it didn't quite work), so just ignore him and be done with it.

Personally I will start taking Darryl seriously when he stops trying to be tommy so much.

Is this a joke?  Please tell me it's a joke.  Atheism doesn't mean that you don't believe in anything, it means you believe that there are no gods.  There is a difference.

And anyway, atheism is a blanket term used to cover many different beliefs.  After doing some reading a couple months ago I realise that I could probably describe my beliefs as metaphysical naturalism.  ie: not only do I believe that there are there no gods, but also that there's no such thing as the supernatural in general.

Yeah bro I know the difference between nihilism and atheism.
Other fun facts is the flat out disbelief I get when I tell people I'm catholic. Even with my extra name.

Most of my posts are at least slightly serious. Exaggerated, sure. But I don't like to say things I don't mean, even if only just a little bit. Some people will read this and change their minds from "Oh, he's just trying to be ironic and failing at it" to "Oh god, he really is that stupid".
I am well aware that my posts are moronic and inane, usually completely devoid of any kind of merit, but you can count on the fact that there is, more often than not, some conviction behind what I say, regardless of how profoundly stupid it might be. I'm not gonna lie, I do not think I am a smart man. Far from it. But I like to think I am an honest man.
I am incredibly surprised when people pay me any attention. I'm a lot of gas, I assume most people get that. I don't expect people to pay me no mind because I'm facetious, but because I am utterly inconsequential with nothing important to say. But I am genuinely surprised when people pay attention to me because there is absolutely no substance here. I am utterly insignificant and perhaps one of the least interesting, and for the people who actually attempt it, most frustrating regulars you could engage with on this forum. I have no illusions about myself, and for that reason, for the time being, I won't make an effort to be anything more.

I'm quite content at the moment to be same blip on the radar that I always have been. That is all I am, a blip, so treat me as suwait a minute I just read the last part of your post. You hit a nerve with that last part. I've faced that accusation several times over the past (five?) years and each time, it stings just a little more. And it does sting.
Tommy is self effacing, and I am self depreciatory. I am from the same country, but those things do not equate to me trying to be Tommy.

I see no similarities between myself and Tommy. Especially in regard to the way we behave on the forums. For one thing, Tommy seems to make everybody like him by being consistently nice to people, and if anything, I seem to be dead set on making myself as unlikable as possible with a complete disregard for manners and grace. Tommy posts fluently and with restraint. I do not know the meaning of either word. To even compare the two of us is astonishing to me. It seems a mighty stretch that somebody might observe my behaviour and think, "Yep, that guy is trying real hard to be Tommy".
Nothing against Tommy, I actually rather like him. But I like to think that I am not trying to emulate anybody, and am being uniquely myself, as idiotic as that self may be.
I humbly request you and anybody else refrain from making such an accusation in the future.

Or disable ad-block on sites you know and like.
If it's a site you know and like, the odds are that the ads aren't particularly intrusive anyway.
I have ad-block disabled on several forums, blogs and webcomics because of the reasons listed in that article.

Your mannerisms and turns of phrase hark back to self-deprecation era tommydski posts. I don't think it is much of a stretch to say that there are similarities between your posts and aspects of tommy's posts, so I'm going to keep making said accusations.

Hopscotch Rug

Anyone want to play?

Hopscotch! I learned a new word today! Hopscotch. Scots that hop? Hopping with scotch?

I'd totally lay that down in front of the door and force every person coming in to hopscotch like everyday's business.
