Yeah, not only will he be ok, but apparently his quick thinking possibly7 saved a bunch of lives (if he'd reacted slower he'd have likely crashed in a populated area, killing himself and several on the ground).

Also, if you crash your plane on a golf course, you can safely bet that there will be a *lot* of doctors running to help.

Also, a lot of lawyers...

According to my knowledge, that's something that's also required on the Spanish legion. Although I think they have never actually broken a bridge, you're never too safe. Specially if someone else has a precedent.

I was looking through some of my coin collection (which I haven't looked at in years), and a Franc stood out to me.  I don't exactly remember where I got it, but it is silver, so it's old, and one side has a pentagram surrounded and filled with floral patterns, above it along the edge of the face it reads "Empire Cherifien", the other size has an eight-sided star with "1 Franc" noting it's value, and what I just realized for the first time was Arabic below it.  I can't read Arabic, so I run the Empire Cherifien through google translate and it comes back with "Moorish Empire".  So a Moorish coin under French monetary system...I'm now assuming it's either from Algeria or Morocco.

I really hate shows being so far ahead of us in the US. Honestly, you can't even really appreciate a show without parts of it being spoiled ahead of time.

I know I'm in the minority in considering literally any information about a show (even just the one joke) to be a spoiler, but I've also had major plot developments in Sunny spoiled for me because I joined an appreciation group.

Nothing is ever enough to prevent a spoiler. If Facebook was around in the 80s, the number of CAN'T BELIEVE DARTH VADER WAS LUKE SKYWALKER'S DAD posts would have been unavoidable. If you're not managing to watch it AS it's airing, you're fucked. Sometimes even that isn't enough if people are slightly ahead of you on the feed and do a tweet or a text or something.

I have a habit of avoiding spoilers just for the sake of not having things spoiled, but I'm getting the feeling there's not much point to it because when I do learn of spoilers, it doesn't really affect my enjoyment. It sucks if there is something that the reader/watcher/player is supposed to figure out for themselves is spoiled, but I don't think that's all that common. A spoiler like 'Snape kills Dumbledore' is almost irrelevant, it tells you something that happens at the end but not how or why, what the reasons or consequences are, so anyone who's reading or watching gets to that point and thinks "oh this is where Snape kills Dumbledore" but that doesn't take away from the narrative, does it?

Basically I find that spoiled or not, if things are good spoilers don't change that so I don't really care if something gets 'spoiled'.

I disagree on multiple levels but I feel like I might slice these off into their own thread. I'm not sure it's intense enough a subject matter for Discuss though, anyone got any thoughts?

Tbh I prefer being called Sir rather than Mr.  "Mr. [mylastname]" just sounds...wrong to me.  Probably comes from the fact that I don't think I've ever once heard my dad be called Mr., nor my grandpa (he lived across the yard).  Also stems from the fact that to me, Mr. is for old people or businessmen, and I'm neither old nor a businessman, so I'd rather not be called Mr.

Yes, I know the full spelling is 'Mister', but that just looks even weirder.

I fucking hate it when people call me Sir. I'm 22, for god's sakes, I ain't recognized by the British royalty, just call mister, officer! You're just about old enough to be my dad, for fuck's sake, don't be talking like you need to respect me!

If you haven't guessed, I've been called 'Sir' exactly once, and the context was a state trooper giving me a ticket

Goodness gracious, not even the cops called me sir when they stopped me to give me a ticket.

The story could very well go on a vitriolic letter but it was 2 years ago. tl;dr, I had a Subaru, he had to drive a shitty Peugeot, and Real Madrid lost that afternoon, so they saw me with the learner driver plaque and decided It was a great moment to vent.

Fun fact: Sir and Mister technically translate to the same word in Spanish.

It's the ring. I'm a guy in a culture where this kind of irrelevant shit is vitally important, and the first thing anyone in my position does is look at the left ring finger.
