It appears that Germany is, like, the only country where stamp racks look like this?

When I google for the term "rotating stamp rack" in English, I get metallic monstrosities that I would be afraid to stick my fingers in, out of fear of slicing them open.

Chaos, another good situation to be in is if you have a little brother who (while still a legal minor) occasionally makes incredibly impulsive purchases. About half were confiscated, and the other half were given to me as punishment. I still have a set of gen-1 Beats I got that way.

That is an almost-entirely off-topic thing, but that is yes, a very good situation, if I'm reading that correctly. I'm more surprised your legal-minor brother has money for impulse purchases. Beats, as in headphones? I'm more a SkullCandy guy myself, but to each his own pair of kickass skull-rattling cans.

I would like to miscellaneously muse/straight up advertise for the new Netflix show Love.

It is produced by Judd Apatow.

It's fucking awesome, at least through episode 6. I do not foresee it getting less amazing.

If it makes a difference, this next episode was directed by one Steve Buscemi. Possibly THAT Steve Buscemi. Possibly not. I don't know.

*edit: I googled it, and YES, that Steve Buscemi.

I get really mad when the gym plays music that is clearly not work out music (today it was Justin Beiber). But then I noticed that because it was making me upset I could work out harder.

Does that technically make it work out music then?

I guess it's different for everyone, but I'd just say any music that makes you want to work harder. For some people it's dance music, for some people it's heavier music (I prefer angry rap or punk music, personally), but it's almost never quiet, relaxing music.

Anything that may give you an adrenaline boost, really.

When I was going to the gym regularly I listened to a lot of fast guitar based rock-pop. Something entertaining and energizing and the faster the better, like such. Made me feel like I was in a boss fight. Sometimes I would listen to podcasts when I wanted an easier workout with less concentration because I find exercising so extremely dull and want to think about anything other than what I'm doing at the time.

Podcasts are walking/driving sound, high-energy tunes are good for anaerobic exercise, if you're asking me. I tend towards 80's era glam metal for working out. Gets that testosterone pumping, adrenaline flowing, etc.

As an extension to all the good answers above, an additional bonus to workout music is if its tempo matches the cadence you want to achieve in your workout.

The Dark Side of the Moon album is excellent if you're on the treadmill. It starts off slow, then hits you with "On The Run". The clocks before "Time" mark the first time the speed is gradually increased, where at "The Great Gig in the Sky", you feel your body starting to ache. Money is the culmination of the ordeal, with the guitar solo marking the last sprint before the cool down, which aptly transitions into "Us and Them".

That's a really cool way to break that down. I played American Football throughout my life (including college) so I always did a lot more sprints and agility stuff than long distance stuff. Even if I did want to start switching my focus I'm physically unable to run for long periods of time due to my hip and back problems (my spine curves a lot to the left causing my left leg to be about an inch shorter than my right, not to mention the time I broke part of my spine and tore my hip labrum, the latter not healing correctly after surgery). Have no idea how long distance runners (or really anyone who can run awhile) can get into that mentality. I do everything fast so angry music is the best option for me, but I can see how that would be a detriment to a runner.

You'd be surprised what Dark Side of the Moon syncs up with.

Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands, but I never thought of them as great workout music before.

Nope, I find faster and harder music playing loud on my headphones is one of the most effective and quickest ways to bring me back from dissociation episodes and the related, or unrelated, anxiety from it. Any very familiar music seems to help but I find the harder stuff just stimulates my brain in the right way. I find it really grounding and soothing. Although by now there's a self-fulfilling association but I'll take it while it works.

Amen. And music from someone who's been lower, especially if they aren't currently sad about it (the difference between The National and the Mountain Goats, both of whom I love and adore) it is beautiful.

Sigh, so the thing about checking QC on a daily basis is that I check it every night at about 9:30-12:00, and I'm sort of, texhnically, thanks to time zones and such, checking tomorrow's comic.

This is all well and good, but then Friday comes along, and I check it, reload the page a few times because maybe Jeph hasn't uploaded the update yet, then realize I'm looking for Saturday's strip, and there IS no Saturday strip. This is purely a stupid on my part, and I know I do it, but every Friday night, I repeat the process.

I don't know what it says about me that I actually think this is a fantastic idea, but I'm changing the subject. Because I am so amusd by tonight's events.

Tonight I began to troll a friend's facebook post.

This has spun off into discussions of my gender association, my (questionable, but generally hetero) sexuality, my taste in music, and lord knows how many other things, ultimately linking back to the fact that I know who Kenny G is because this dude I knew in high school, R*** Po****, played a song by them in my Junior year talent shoe, and the dude who'se been antagonizing me worked security for Kenny G with R** Po****

You know Rick Possum?

Only casually, and I like to antagonize his Facebook friends.

That guy I was talking about left pretty early, but I was woke to another dude telling me, in multiple comments, that I was gay, that I suck specifically on the heads of cocks, that I'm a Hilary supporter, that I like the taste of semen and listen to Creed.

It was like being in middle school again. It was hilarious because I can only assume this dude was legitimately thinking these things were the biggest insults, and I'm only annoyed at the Creed comment.

Good lord, it was like he was intentionally setting himself up to be insulted, it was great.

Story time!

On my old school bus, we were forced to listen to one of those horrible commercial radio stations (SAFM, though it's not Hit107) every day.

Despite all their bragging about it being a "no-repeats" station, all it meant was that they'd play the exact same playlist

Every. Single. Gorram. Day.

I'd begun to associate certain songs with destinations on the route to school, down by Fechner's Bridge it would be Greenday's When September Ends, on the hill into Angaston, it would be Maroon 5's She Will Be Loved, going down the main street of Nuriootpa, it would always be Kryptonite.

I hated that song. I hated it so much. I mean, I hated all of those songs, but I held a special hatred for Kryptonite.

One day, the radio hosts were giving a little backstory about the song and the band that wrote it, saying that it was written and a demo of the song was done here in Australia, in Studio 52 in Melbourne, before being recorded properly in New York.

A couple of years later, I found myself in Melbourne, and heard the song played in a shopping centre. Reminded me of the hatred I felt back in high school. I figured, while I'm here, I may as well go visit the studio, reprimand them for helping bring this pox on the world of music to life.

So, long story short, I found the place. Walked up to the receptionist and asked them:

Me: "Is this the place where Kryptonite was written?"
Receptionist: 'Kryptonite?'
Me: "Yeah. Was that horrible song written here?"
Receptionist: 'I'm sorry, but no. That was Three Doors Down.'

This is a decent topic. Like... Footballs? I mean AMERICAN footballs? Should those even qualify? Do they truly deserve synonymity in American culture with testicles?

I thought it was supposed to be that the first person was acting like it was nothing... i.e. it's only a bird.
