Saturday was a glorious run in EU4, trying to to grow a Huron nation that would be both prosperous and resiliant to the West.  Wound up allied to France, and I was apparently strong enough that I had to rival first Denmark then later Great Britain, so I must have been doing ok.

Sunday I decided to try GW2 PvE.

Totally hooked on Binding of Isaac: Rebirth lately. It didn't help that I found out that my Surface Pro runs the game no problem. This game is going to be my airplane/train/on holidays game.

Also Azazel is way overpowered, but that makes him SO fun to play.

well, I was a nice Dad this weekend, and downloaded

for my son to play again.

It seems that

is his favorite video game.

I'll be darned if I didn't get addicted to

as well.

I found myself playing

at 0130, and reminded myself I had to got to work.

I gotta watch myself.  This

thing might totally ruin my life.

Far Cry 4 and Dragon Age Inquisition, some minor niggles with both, my continuing gripe about Far Cry's kinda sticky weapons selection, and DA:I's lack of a visible level for enemies and slightly poor scaling and can make for some random splatter deaths, but I've sunk about 10-12 hours in each and both were excellent expenditures I'll be enjoying for quite some time.

I spent two days hammering out Last of Us for the PS4, then spent one day watching Regular Show to recover emotionally. Now it's on to the next Dragon Age, and yes, the lack of level indicators suckssss.

Man, I spent the whole afternoon playing Wipeout Pulse in a psp emu and now the ISO won't load properly. Both that and the GTPSP actually. Kinda mad.

Oh well, I still have RR2. I might redownload those ISOs when I have more drive space and proper internetz.

And to be fair, I also have a plethora of other racing games (Trackmania (which I've been playing for almost 9 years now), almost every NFS since 2, Midtown Madness 2, Ridge Racer Unbounded, Colin McRae DiRT...)

Is DA:I worth getting on the 360, or should I wait untill I have a Xbox One, because it's the only game the One has at the moment that I'm interested in.

Not sure, probably sometime when I some spare $s and it has a decent amount of 5 star games. I'm still kinda pissed at them forcing the Kinnect on people who don't want it.

They have a kinect-less version now. I'd say don't bother with the one for another year at least and grab DA:I when you can. You can get all the new releases on the 360 any way.

So I now have $20 of Steam money and would love suggestions on what to spend it on, the one caveat being that I will not spend my own money subjecting myself to horror games.

My real and facebook friends have already suggested The Binding of Isaac, Organ Trail, and Orcs Must Die. Personally I'm feeling inclined towards Shovel Knight. But although the game looks fun I'm left questioning whether it has $15 worth of content and replayability.

Shovel Knight is an extraordinary work of retro craftsmanship, but someone reasonably skilled at platformers will probably complete it quite quickly. New Game Plus and achievements do add some replayability but for me, once I'd completed the entire game I didn't particularly feel like completing the extra challenges like collect all the treasure in one level, complete a level without getting hurt, and so on. Those are actually frikkin hard. But it's still installed on my laptop for when I want to play it on the train or something.

If you're a big fan of 8-bit retro and Nintendo Hard, you will definitely get your money's worth, but if not, I think you'll still enjoy it while it lasts you.

In other news, I've been replaying Deus Ex, following this walkthrough that comes closest to roleplaying the game as Deadpool. If you didn't have an urge to replay Deus Ex now, after reading that guide you totally will. And if you don't own Deus Ex, now's the perfect opportunity to buy it!

Shadowrun Returns is $5 for the Deluxe edition and well worth it, especially with a vibrant community churning out new campaigns all the time.

Terraria: $2

Anno 2070: $7.50

State of Decay: $5

Banished: $10

Borderlands 2: $5

I picked up FTL again a week ago. Bought it while it was all the hype, but never really played it. I've gotten a little bit of success, but still though.. This game is bloody hard! I've managed to beat the boss ship once (but not finished it), but that's all. On easy. Gotten two extra ships, the Engi one and the Zoltan one. Halberd beam is pretty OP the first two thirds of the game, where I can just one-shot most any enemy with it!

I had a friend that used to run stress tests on his computer by spawning 100 LAWs on Deus Ex with cheats. Fond memories of the game xD.

I was ass tho.

On another note, on Goat MMO sim you can thrash the server room. So we can say it's pretty excellent all around.

Ah, I thought you meant the new one that got a metascore of like, 50.

Wait a minute. I just just checked and am wrong... wtf game was I thinking of...

EDIT for the 2nd time! I was thinking of Deus Ex: The Fall
Oh my GOD, Deus Ex: The Fall was the first Deus Ex you learned of? That is a colossal injustice. Criminal.

Let me tell you about the series. In the beginning there was Deus Ex, a game that captured the hearts and minds of all those who saw its splendor (and could look past the admittedly terrible graphics). Then a sequel called Deus Ex: Invisible War came out, and the disciples of JC Denton proclaimed it as a work of utter heresy, as its changes to the formula resulted only in a game that could not live up to the original. The third game in the series, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, was a prequel that, due to its massive budget and modern sensibilities, came out as almost a complete reinterpretation. All the technology was made to look futuristic by the standards of 2011, which a substantial change from the gloomy dystopia of the original. In spite of some design decisions that many people agree were total missteps (mandatory, single-solution boss fights! Press X to Be Awesome combat!) Human Revolution was well-received across the board and generally regarded as a Proper Deus Ex game.

In one respect, Invisible War is sort of the black sheep in the series, but The Fall isn't even worthy of that title. Invisible War is a good game in its own right, but didn't break away from the shadow of its Big Brother. Human Revolution was released at a time where it could gain a whole new audience with its triple-A appeal, but the dark side of this is that a lazily developed mobile game tie-in was pushed out the door some time later, with a half-assed PC port no one asked for not far behind. It was met with mild curiosity prior to its release, and with total disregard after. I had honestly forgotten that it existed, and I think that every Deus Ex fan will agree that you should never speak of it again.

hmmm, human revolution, $10, 91 metascore? Might try.

I feel weird about playing any other FPS on my computer besides counter strike though, I literally never did it before.

Finally beat Far Cry 3.  I was already disappointed with my first partial playthrough and Vaas's death.  No satisfaction whatsoever there.  Then the next boss was a disappointing QTE knife fight, and yeah I made my choice.  To be honest, I was kind of let down with the story ending, though I really do like the exploration of the island, and taking over territory.  I think the open world part was more fun than the rest.

Oh my GOD, Deus Ex: The Fall was the first Deus Ex you learned of? That is a colossal injustice. Criminal.

That would be like if Brotherhood of Steel was the first Fallout someone learned of.

Fuck no, it would be like if EA's mobile Dungeon Keeper game was the first someone learned of Dungeon Keeper. Actually, that would be worse!

DEUS EX HUMAN REVOLUTION WAS A GREAT GAME AND I WILL PUNCH ANYBODY WHO SAYS OTHERWISE.

I tried twice, and could not get into it.  Then again, I'm pretty blasé about first person shooters.

I promise you there is nothing worse than someone's view of Fallout, one of the greatest game series of all time for my money, being tainted by that 100% wrong in every respect piece of shit.
