Hmmmmm

Has anyone thought/mentioned Jerri Ryan for Bubbles voice?
Not to my knowledge, but her voice and delivery for Seven of Nine would fit quite well.

Has anyone come up with a suggestion for Brun's voice yet?

If she has any accent, I would expect Brun to sound German, not British. Of course she may have been born here in America to German parents for all we know.

Sandi Toksvig is a Dane, whose family moved to the US, and got sent to a UK boarding school where she picked up her accent (she's not the only person in the UK to fake it).

That's the thing of it, though. Accents are all relative.

Well, with the exception of the Mid-Western cosmopolitan accent (what news anchors are often taught to mimic). People who grew up in Dallas, Texas tend to sound an awful lot like people who grew up in Wichita or Kansas City Kansas. The primary give away is typically word choice or colloquialisms. Well, unless you get someone like me who's picked up all sorts of things from all over the place. Like "spiffy" when something's good, "ai-ya" for exasperation, and "gewalt" (sp?) when I'm angry and frustrated.

EDIT: Now that I think of it, the first two examples are from cartoons; Big Guy and Rusty and Jackie Chan Adventures respectively. No idea how or where I picked up 'gewalt', but I say the 'g' with a voiced palato-alveolar sibilant (/ʒ/) for some reason. Probably because I'm usually clenching my jaw when I say it.

"Oy, gevalt!" is a Yiddish expression, sometimes said as just "Gevalt!", but it's pronounced with a hard 'g' -- I don't speak IPA, but I think you're saying you say it with a soft 'g'? So I don't know... maybe you got it from something you read without ever hearing it pronounced?

More details here.

I derailed this train so I'll get it back on track.
How about Cree Summer for the voice of Reneé?

And maybe Michaela Dietz for Brun? I know it'd be a fair sight different than her role as Amethyst, but let's not type-cast her.

What about live action casting?

Marten- Elijah Wood
Pintsize- Wallace Shawn
Faye- Melanie Lynsky
Dora- Laura Prepon
Hanners- Amy Poehler
Sven- Joel McHale
Marigold- Lena Dunham
Momo- Pamela Adlon
May- Maryke Hendrikse
Tai- Cameron Esposito
Steve- Jason Sudeikis
Ms. Reed- Mary Steenburgen
Raven- Kristen Schaal
Amir- Hari Kondabalu
Jim- Rob Lowe
Clinton- Vincent Kartheiser
Dale- Donald Glover
John Ellicott-Chatham- Alan Alda
Beatrice Chatham- January Jones
Claire- Ellen Page
Emily- Malin Akerman
Station- Alan Tudyk
Jimbo- Ben Affleck
Bubbles- Gwendoline Christie
Renee- Gabrielle Union
Elliot- Chris Pratt
Corpse Witch- Christina Hendricks

aaaaaand just for fun:

Punchbot- Jon Hamm

So, Melanie Lynsky is relatively unknown, but she would be absolutely perfect as Faye, and she just finished doing a movie for Netflix called I Don't Feel At Home in This World Anymore. It's pretty good, and it kinda reminds me of Jeph's writing: real world anxieties punctuated by occasional bizarre events.

Hannelore's actress got pregnant and there was no way they could spanner that into the show, so she's off on a sabbatical while a Georgian actress who hasn't had a good job in over a decade spits coffee all over her pyjamas when she receives an unexpected call at 2pm.

Any suggestions for Melon and Arthur?

Personally, I'm inclinded to suggest Holly Conrad (better known as Commander Holly or Strix from the Waffle Crew) for Melon. Not sure about Arthur, maybe Jason Douglas?

Oh, also, if I haven't suggested it yet, Kim Richards for May.

This thread was how I first discovered these forums existed, because I searched "Gilbert Gottfried yelling bird" to see if anyone else had that idea too.

Has anyone ever attempted a fan-made QC animated show or radio play? If anyone attempts something like that I'd want to audition for it... I think I could read for Dora or Brun

Good question.

I found 1 very short animation from 8 years ago that features Pintsize, and 1 fan song.

If they ever have the crew of Discovery run into the original crew of the Enterprise, I cannot think of a better choice to play Number One than Jeri Ryan.

Okay, I had an idea if QC was an animated series.

Bubbles--Aubrey Plaza (I don't know why, I just think it would work, I think she could bring a lot to the role)

Faye--Britt Robertson (after watching Girlboss, she definitely has the right amount of sass and comedic timing to voice Faye)

What does everyone think?

After some thinking, yeah, probably not Aubrey Plaza.

I have a few more ideas for Bubbles. Though I do think Britt Robertson would be perfect for Faye.

-Lena Headey
-Portia de Rossi
-Katherine Heigl
-Kate Beckinsale

And I agree with the person who said Jerri Ryan. Her voice would work well.

Brun?

-Alia Shawkat

Hmm...I have to think of a few more.

Okay, so I'm actually imagining actors talking in their normal voices, not voice actors who literally voice act. Haha.

Bubbles:

Erica Durance
Olivia Munn

Okay, I am having difficulty coming up with more actresses who could voice Brun. She definitely doesn't have a squeaky, girly, cutesy voice, in my mind.

Dora: someone said Mary Elizabeth McGlynn. How about Mary Elizabeth Winstead, instead? : p

Tai: this is kind of a tough one...hmmm...maybe it's just because I just watched SNL but Aidy Bryant comes into my head. I think it could work.

Now I'm going to read all the comics using their voices in my head and seeing how it works. I am sticking with Britt Robertson for Faye.

I'm going to have to disagree with Cree Summer for Renee. That would be too weird, honestly. She's a tad overexposed and I don't think she belongs in the QC universe.

I think Nicole Byer would be perfect. She's SO funny. She would be awesome.

Disclaimer: I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with you - just throwing this out there.

The nice thing about animation is that you can have voice actors who might never work together otherwise. And I have watched animated shows with voice actors who I would never watch in a live action show, and they're just fine.

Besides, Cree Summer was Penny on Inspector Gadget! (OK, that's probably the only thing I've ever seen with her in it, but still... Gadget was a cyborg, kinda, so why shouldn't she, of all people, belong in the QC universe?)

I just feel like I've heard her voice absolutely everywhere to the point where it's time to bring in someone new. She has literally voiced every character for the last 20 years, it seems like. I exaggerate, but I kinda want a mix of comedians/actors, less so people like Billy West, for example, who have done tons and tons of voice work.

Yes, but can you really tell when it's Billy West? He voices nearly half the male cast of Futurama including scenes of 3 or 4 characters talking all of whom are voiced by him. Scott McNeil got to do the same thing for Beast Wars (Rattrap, Dinobot, Silverbolt, and Quickstrike in the good BW series).

Okay this "may" haha, no pun intended, sound a bit odd but although she's not technically an actress, I think Hayley Williams (of Paramore) would work for May.

This is what's kind of fun about this game. Imagining people who aren't voice actors voicing the characters.

And Krysten Ritter for Melon.

How do you know? Her ancestry has never been discussed in the comic, and "Brunhilde" is a distinctly Germanic name.

FWIW, I met a girl just a week ago who was born and raised in Michigan - about the same age as Brun, in fact. She's a waitress at a restaurant, so we had a chance to chat. She has an everyday American first name. She's never even been to Germany. However, because both of her parents moved here from Germany as adults, and they speak predominantly German in their home, she has a very heavy German accent herself.

Just a thought.

That's not common...

Do we know Brun's last name? That could give an indication of her heritage. A first name alone isn't conclusive... anyone could be named Brunhilde, not just German people.

The USA was largely settled by the Germans, so that kind of shoots that sentiment in the foot.
