The one thing that Amber fears above all else - The little bit of her father's violent and aggressive behaviour that has been wired into her by long exposure came out due to the stress of having to confront Danny not differentiating between her 'Amber' and 'Amazi-Girl' personae. The ironic part of today's strip (16/12) is that Sal is interested in Joyce as a friend only when Joyce has reached the point where she is least likely to be able to tolerate Sal's attitude problems.

I don't know, I think Joyce is in a position where she and Sal could be friends now. Both have a massive disillusionment with family and people after having the supposed 'happy childhood/good parents' myth shattered. Sal just had that happen early on, while Joyce is realizing her entire life has been built on a bed of lies.
