The next pizza will be delivered by a blue boy with a tail. Nobody will notice anything unusual about it.

The next phase of the project is to fit a quad-copter inside the re-entry shell. After the parachute opens, the drone flies out, carrying the pizza. It is agile enough to find the target person's window and fly in to deliver the food to the table.

The problem? Haven't got the anti-collision algorithms up to speed yet. The number of broken window claims are stacking up a bit...

Still less complex than the Mars Curiosity lander.

Complete pizza party delivered from space, in a Pathfinder-style landing system, which upon landing can be repurposed into a bouncy castle.

As the pizza is clearly bombarded with cosmic rays as it falls from space, does it turn normal humans into superheroes and normal turtles into teenage ninjas?

I secretly suspect Bubbles may be a figment of Faye's imagination.  Maybe imaginary friend, maybe Tyler Durden.  I just think it's interesting that Faye, the acknowledged problem drinker, has never been seen with one of the drunk hallucinations.  Maybe she hallucinates robots when sober, I dunno.

It would be a solid theory if we hadn't seen Pintsize interacting with Bubbles independent of Faye.

Myriad Pro is a scary font, according to Hannelore, which would make it appropriate for Bubbles if she wants to intimidate people.

Maybe Bubbles could join the band, take it in a new direction, maybe define her own sub-genre. She's not known to play an instrument, so she could do something vocal. She has a robot's timing and speed, so some kind of fast-talking spoken word art form might work. (Let's see who figures out the best name for it first).

Comic Sans?

Comic Sans has appropriate uses, such as when quoting ridiculous people, or underlining one's own intentional ridiculousness. OTOH I have yet to see the Hobo font in a usage that wasn't plainly hideous.

I'm getting the impression that Bubbles is genuinely impressed with Faye's spaghetti logic that she is displaying here.

My prediction is that Bubbles' sense of curiosity will overwhelm her normal good sense and she'll come to the get-together. By doing so, she'll learn a critical truth: Humans are weird and the AIs that hang out with them on a regular basis are weirder yet.

I'm just wondering how she'll react to Faye introducing her as: "My friend from work". Y'see... I don't think that Bubbles has had a friend, at least not for a long time.

Comic Sans would be about right for Pintsize's sense of taste.

For all other applications where you might even consider it there's Comic Neue.

I demand only one thing from my fonts: Readability. That means TNR, Arial, Verdana or Calibri for me.

Back when Fanfiction.NET supported multiple fonts and colours, I would use other fonts for titles. Comic Sans Extra Bold & Italic in orange nicely mimicked the official Pokémon title font, for example. Now it has only one fixed display font, I don't bother mucking around with it.

Okay, now I'm excited.  Every single character has glorious opportunities for clashing with Bubbles.
(some potential highlights)
May: clear ex-con vs. vet struggles there.  The one who wanted to be a badass killing machine vs. the one who had to.
Clinton: let's just say that Bubbles likely has greater defences than a simple electric shock.
Hannelore: an AI who's had a troubled life might have mixed opinions of Dr. John Ellicott.

For a long document, Times is an easier font to read.  For shorter things (<2 pages), sans serif fonts are easier things to read, at least in my experience.  Now, there are some, like Open Dyslexic that are absolutely hideous, but quite useful for those who need it, even if it makes their typography brain wince.

Oh Bubbles! Of all the Hollywood character flaws to have, you had to have Marty McFly's!

Okay so, opinions please! Which of the following do you think Bubbles will do?
  • Not turn up at the party;
  • Turn up 'fashionably late' and insist that she is "protecting my employer's investment by ensuring Faye Whitaker does not come to harm";
  • Turn up and then simply be a silent, brooding presence in the corner of the room (a futile gesture as Emily engages her in one-sided small-talk anyway);
  • Come chasing after Faye with a transparent excuse for changing her mind;
  • Turn up for the party and spend her entire time telling everyone that she isn't having a good time but being suspiciously sociable about it;
  • Turn up, get propositioned by Pintsize and end up having an increasingly impassioned debate with Momo about AI rights that Faye mentions could be excused by both of them being drunk if that wasn't physically impossible;
  • Not turn up but, as she sits alone in the dark of the repair bays, delivers a heart-rending introspective monologue about why she wishes she was brave enough to do go to the party.
Or you might have your own ideas! Let us know!

It is my hope that Bubbles realizes she doesn't have to prove anything to Faye, accepts that there is nothing wrong with not associating with others if you don't want to, and goes home to have the equivalent of a cup of tea and a book. Faye gradually learns to accept this about Bubbles, and stops pushing her to be something she doesn't want to be.

Of course, that doesn't make a good plotline.

I expect she's familiar with Pintsize, through reputation if nothing else, given he's the one who knew the place to begin with. I think more likely she'll show up, make the least amount of appropriate social dealings, then retire into the night. She's not rude, if people approach her, she won't ignore them, but she wouldn't give them too much reason to think they should continue pressing.

Marigold would still be stuck in her room full time with this theory.

I mean, it would still suck, but at least it would suck creatively.

I'm betting she turns up just to prove a point to Faye and winds up having more of a good time than she actually thought she would.

But was she happy? That's the crux. The vast majority of humans require other human interaction. Even the most hardcore introvert likes to see someone every once in a while. We are social animals. There was an element of sadness with Marigold-she clearly wanted companionship, or why would she have Momo?

We have no evidence that Bubbles feels the same way. True, there is no evidence that she doesn't feel lonely, but I don't get that impression.

That's a wrong approach, the correct one would be "Was she happier?"

And everything seems to indicate that it really isn't the case.

In another note, is panel three the most "feminine" Bubbles has ever looked?
