The creepy part was the manipulative way she got Sam to invite her. May be a pet peeve of mine, but I know a few people like that and they don't ask for anything but look pathetic and sad until you offer it.

I wouldn't know, perhaps she is used to be left out the fun activities. At least she's actively socializing now. Perhaps I'm just an enabler, I do give people several chances as (almost) always see the good in people.

Seeing the good in people in one thing, but all of us get left out of social activities some time. If you wanna come, you'll have to say so. If you want your friend to live with you, you ask. But, I see what she's doing here - in not asking, she's not in anybody's debt. She guilts (or tries to guilt) everybody into giving her what she wants. It's not that she doesn't have redeeming qualities, but as I said - I know people who've done this all their lives, and now they're surprised why they have no friends and even their family doesn't really like them.

Also: Even though Pintsize doesn't really have a big butt, he makes the most of it. I'm really disgusted, but May seems to be the person to test this out on

That would be about all she could do with her cut-rate chassis. Actually, I'm surprised that she can even do that in there. Do recently paroled AIs place a great deal of value on solid/liquid chemo-analysis (which is what the sense of taste really is)? Honestly, though, even if Pintsize was really dedicated to the prank and had scoured the neighborhood for fresh scat, would a taste test really harm May? At worst, she'd just climb bodily into the shower and be sure to rinse out her oral cavity.

IIRC, when Pintsize binged on cake mix, Marten said that it causes Pintsize internal damage but that's the nature of addiction isn't it? You do it for the buzz and don't care about the fact you're statistically reducing your life expectancy!

Oh, I think we've seen her smile. I find what she's smiling at the disturbing part -- she's looking at the centerfold in Prolapse Monthly!

Jeph's note at the bottom says "Prolapse Monthly is the only print magazine still extant in the QC universe" -- I can't help but think he means "...as far as May is concerned, anyway."

I mean canon, but fair point. Cold mentions the AnthroPCs one, I'm not sure I view that as canon, but it is valid interpretation at the very least.

Is that really a thing? I've been confronted with sexism all my life (especially my professional life), but I've never seen a salesperson that dumb.

I have certainly seen this.  I had a cart full of stuff and the checkout guy in front of me was giving someone a hard time more-or-less like Chad did to Sam there.  She just told him, "I can get this at a different store," left her cart, and walked out without buying.  I thought about it for a few seconds, said "You know what?  So can I."  And left a cart with about US$1200 of networking gear I was getting for work just sitting there and went down the block to a different store. 

Someone noticed customers walking away without carts, and called him over for a chat as I left.  I hope it was his manager, and if she didn't fire  his ass I'm betting she at least gave him an earful and a good motivation not to repeat the performance.
