Alex Cox - 1984 - Repo Man
« on: 08 Dec 2020, 13:17 »

I saw Repo Man (1984) mentioned a few times, recently. Some said they enjoyed it. I love it. Some said they didn't really understand it.

Feeling Seven Up, I'm feeling Seven Up
Reaching up, moving up, feeling Seven Up
It's a crisp refreshing feeling
Crystal clear and light
America's turning Seven Up
And it sure feels right
Feeling lucky seven
Feeling seventh heaven
Feeling seven, seven, Seven Up

I think we had that playing on our TV over thanksgiving. I didn't pay much attention, but I recall a few pointedly funny scenes, and how bleak their town looked. I think I'm gonna find and watch it this weekend. I've never really cared about spoilers, so I'm gonna watch the Criterion Retrospective review (thanks Marf) - I was gonna say tonight, but it's getting late. Tomorrow.

The life of a repo man is always intense.

Goat's gallstones, there's blue-label champagne.

Archie's probably my favourite character.
Feelin' Seven Up, I'm feelin' Seven Up
Feelin' Seven Up, I'm feelin' Seven Up
It's so crispy fresh in feelin'
Crystal clear and light
America's drinkin' Seven Up
And that shit feels right
Feeling lucky seven
Seven eleven
It's been brought to my attention, that you're not *paying* attention, to the way Kevin sang it in the movie.

In my defense, I haven't seen Repo Man since the 1980s.

I heard ``And it should feels right,'' distinct ``it:'' Louis, throw him out, too!

I like how, later, we see Kevin and Mr. Humphries in the same house---so he's not nepotist.
