Well, J... when a Man and a Woman love each other... VERY much... the man puts his 'winky' into the woman's 'vagoo'.  However, after a few years, men and women in love watch a screen, instead.  A screen with flickering images, most of which are aimed at selling you things.

ephemere: i don't even know what you're talking about...

update: ok let's say: die sendung mit der maus is the best german tv-show of the 90s. (probably also of the 70s and 80s, but i'm too young to have watched it back then.)
it was, in fact, aired first in 1971.

Futurama counts because it aired in 2000 which was officially part of the 1990s, because there was no year 0.

I still wouldn't consider it 90s because it ran more in the 2000s than 90s.

I liked the family shows like Full House etc that I grew up watching.  Alot of 90s cartoons too.

Well, the problem here is: We live in Germany and that stuff never aired here, so there. And if it aired, I have no idea what it was called.

Plus I maintain that Sending mit der Maus is still better.

Also, if Futurama counts, I'm so including it. I don't own all Futurama DVD sets for nothing here.

Edit: Here's why it's better:

The elephant is helping the mouse because the elephant's the mouse's best friend. Can your weird ass American TV series beat that? I THINK NOT.

Ninja Turtles, Ren and Stimpy, Angry Beavers, and Power Reangers (up until the first move, when they became ninjas, after that, it got a bit too silly) OWNED MY FUCKING LIFE. I didnt discover futurama until '01 though, so I just missed it. Like the show now though.

Also, I hated saved by the bell, but watched it because it was the only damn show on when i got home, and i cant focus on homework without something in the background.

Definitely My So Called Life.

Ren and Stimpy, The Tick, Cow and Chicken (always prefered it to Angry Beavers which was similar) for the animated stuff.

Seinfeld (a given), Twin Peaks, Spaced (started '99 and ran into the 2000s) and surely some others I don't remember yet.

Square One.
I actually think this one's late-80s early-90s.
Please tell me I'm not the only one here who remembers Square One.  Sometimes I think my best friend and I are the only people who have heard of the show.  My favorite segments were always Dirk Niblick and the Math Brigade and Mathnet (Dragnet spoof).
As a kid I was only allowed to watch a half-hour of TV each day and both of my parents are mathematicians so it was pretty much predetermined that that half-hour would be Square One (which was OK with me since I loved the show).

Mystery Science Theater 3000
only ran one season followed by a movie (which was exactly the same format and length as an episode of the show so its not really a movie.

I have never seen My So Called Life, but it is always mentioned in conversations about '90s television. I know it starred Claire Danes, but that's about all I know about it. What was it about? Did you have to be there (in the '90s, I mean) to enjoy it or is it still good?

Also, Seinfeld, The Simpsons, The X-Files were all super cool.

Wow, I haven't thought of that show in a looong time. I really liked it. But then, I was also young and suspending belief was a lot easier back then.

Speaking of suspending belief, my votes go out to ST: DS9 and Babylon 5.

And Seinfeld.

Heh, I remember the lamest attempt ever at inserting depth into a T.V. show occurred in one of the very few episodes of Sliders that I watched.  Two characters were trying to have a moral dilemma about whether or not to provide the expertise to create nuclear weapons to an alternative-universe Earth that didn't have them (because there was an asteroid on a collision course with the Earth and they needed a nuclear missile to blow it up).  The entire conversation lasted three lines, along the lines of:

- Old, bearded Slider guy: "Can we really risk unleashing nuclear weapons upon an unsuspecting world?"
- Nondescript alternative-universe-Earth guy: "If we don't, there won't be a world."
- O.B.S.G.: "You're right."

That's the kind of half-arsed writing that makes me want to give the T.V. a patronisingly slow hand-clap.

I'd have given them the n00kz. After all, it's an alternative earth, so we don't really care if they live or die. ^__^

And my mum would probably want me to say "Touched By An Angel" (insert Catholic priest joke here).
