Hear me out.. I have the technical ability to do this, but am not sure if the technology totally exists in the podcasting world.
Anyway, I was looking at trying to reformat QC comics into something I could view on my Zune, your iPod, or maybe your Nintendo DS system, so I downloaded one comic and tried to make each panel into a 320 x 240 graphic. It works OK... EXCEPT that it's impossible to shrink word balloons and lettering that small and make it legible.
So I was wondering, would you, Jeph, support a volunteer project to download the pictures, and have people add voiceover to provide the voices? You as creator would have to audition some folks to make sure you got the voice in your head; and maybe help with creating the art in layers so the word balloons can be removed, if you don't do that already. The loyal QC readership would take care of the picture manipulation, voicing the words as written, and uploading the files to the site.
This would NOT be an animated QC cartoon! Just four panels, with the voices provided.
The part I'm not sure about is whether RSS/Atom/podcasts support doing pictures with voice captions. This could be done in HTML on web pages but I don't know about podcasts.
Just sayin' it would be awesome for folks to have portable QC.
