I have a question about the language used, specifically the profanity/slang. I've noticed words like [email protected] and knockers being used in your comic, are these words commonly used  in America because in the UK, we use them all the time. It aslo reminded me of Robocop 3 when at the end, the bad guy calls the little girl a "slag". Is this also used commonly in America?

Three questions regarding Faye:

1.- When will she have a new haircut?
2.- When will she be thinner?
3.- When will we have some Faye fanservice!?

I'm gonna take a shot at the answers to the first three questions and see how accurate they are when Jeph replies!

1. When I feel like it!
2. Probably never!
3. Never you creepy bastard

Sounds pretty close to me.

What happened to the music blog that Marten made?

(whoah a non-terrible question this time. who woulda thunk it?)

Achewood does a much better job of character blogging than I ever could.

I know it's early to be asking, and all, but are you planning on goign to SPX this year?

Absolutely.

Jeph are you going to NY ComicCon?  You totally should.

Maybe next year.

He's not just the artist - he's also the writer :D

Jeph, what are your opinions on Feist? I've been hearing split opinions about her for a while and I wanted an opinion from someone who knows his music.

Love her in Broken Social Scene, feel pretty meh about her solo stuff.

I wanted to know in your opinion how much logic and maturity really matters when it comes to picking a girlfriend and also where would you place Faye on the maturity scale.. (she's my fav character, sorry I dont care how offended Raven would be, Faye kicks everyone elses ass in greatnessness!) Faye is quite a closed person, but do her emotional and mental maturity come to the same level? *silently jumps up and down at the glee of her first post*

Logic has almost nothing to do with romance. Maturity matters in the long run, probably, but there are exceptions to everything.

Faye is pretty much stuck at the age she was when her dad blew his head off. She's only just now beginning to develop into an actual grownup.

Three questions regarding Faye:

1.- When will she have a new haircut?
2.- When will she be thinner?
3.- When will we have some Faye fanservice!?

Two questions regarding the comic:

1.- Are you accepting guest strips?
2.- What would someone need to have a guest strip featured?

1. Probably never. I might style it differently but that hair length and those bangs suit her character.
2. Absolutely never. I have too many skinny people in my comic as it is.
3. Every time I draw her I feel like it is fanservice.

1b. Always.
2b. You have to have a comic or website I really like. If you don't, the guest strip has to be unbelievably funny and well-drawn for me to run it.

I just wish to make an observation about the 'cast' section in the QC website

I would very much like to know what character class you played in highschool?
since I am certain that you were a D&D guy, probably still are. I prefer human
clerics of Pelor, though I've used Wizards and Wizard/Cleric combos as well.

Yeah I rarely have time to update the cast section, it is meant more as a general guide than an exhaustive list anyway.

I have never actually played D&D. I just have a lot of friends who do.

Three questions regarding Faye:

1.- When will she have a new haircut?
2.- When will she be thinner?

I'm sorry, but is there a reason Faye should be thinner? She looks perfectly fine as far as I'm concerned...or do you find her CARTOON BODY offensive? I hate to say it, but I cannot believe that you're trying to enforce traditional female body stereotypes on WEBCOMIC CHARACTERS. Ew, grossed out much?

I find it offensive....THAT SHE WON'T SHOW HER TITS HUR HUR HUR

What does Steve do for a living?

murders

Twat is pretty common, but I like using british slang sometimes because it's funny. Also, cunt is a fantastic swearword.

Do the characters feel like real people to you?

On good days, yes.

Should reports of spelling errors in the comics

o go to your email
o go via PM
o go to a swampy worm-infested grave along with the stinking corpse of the pedantic arrogant spelling nazi douchebag who noticed them?

i nver maek speling error in my comcis

@ comic/website: damn...

Another question (maybe already solved): what happened to indie bands' references in the strips, like "the killers should suck ****" or "yeah, marten, modest mouse kick ass" and stuff?

Basically I've never been to a convention-type dealie before, and seeing a massive webcomics author beat a dude into the ground would be hilarious.

Is Angus's nose supposed to have been broken? Sometimes I think it is, sometimes not. Of course, I'm like that about many things, but still, I was wondering.

Oh, and thanks for answering dancewith's question about Faye's maturity. If you had to point at one of the characters (outside of Veronica Reed) and designate him/her 'mature,' who would it be?

I'm sure the Linux anthropc will be back sooner or later.

I don't have much experience with Linux myself, but from what little I've done with it, I like Debian best. It's really straightforward.

Jeph, just a heads-up; looking back on my SPX question, and the times you've said you were definitely going this year, I followed up by going to the SPX website.  Your name is conspicuously absent from the exhibitors list, and the front page says they've only got like 10 tables left.  If you've registered and just aren't on the site, excellent; if by "I'm definitely going" you mean you'd definitely like to, but haven't registered yet, I'm just offering a friendly reminder that time may be limited.

Hopefully you see this soon, but if you haven't replied to this thread by like tomorrow afternoon I'll be sure to PM you.

I'm only like 20 minutes north of Rockville dude, it'd be fun times to catch you in Maryland!

Which characters, if any, would you describe as admirable?

They've all got flaws, of course, but Faye has had the guts to take charge of her life lately, and Hannelore has the courage of a bullfighter just to get through the day.

By "admirable" I don't mean "role model", of course.

I was just wondering what is up with Raven's breasts? They were pointing straight up in the last comic. I thought she was going to poke Faye's eyes out!!!

Faye should be so lucky.  Hmmm. Maybe she has some new superbra that orients her breasts on the viewer? Or maybe it's just a sign Raven does have a truly awesome rack. A, ah, pair with tracking capability.

I have a more important question. When is Raven gonna lose the grotty pink forelock? I finally found the time (around #888 or so) where she had the pink hair in the back. That was great. And  around #838, where it was all black.  And, sorry thin-face proponants, Raven had a rounded face then, too, maybe even moreso. She did seem cuter, though. Adorable, even.

Away with the pink! Please! I'm on my hands and knees, banging my head on the tiles as I kowtow for my wish. It hurts! What a stupid way to beg!

Yes I know she's a drawring. But I can ask she be a cute drawring again, can't I?

P.S. Has Marten ever read Time Enough for Love:laugh: Dorable Dora!

Cuz I imagined it with full body illustrations of each character, and then some screenshots from the strip, along with the description.

Have you ever messed around with any three dimensional art (i.e., sculpture, whatnot)? You seem to have pretty decent spacial skills.

Are you finding it challenging to continue to create funny strips? I mean, the wells of humorous material are not botomless; just wondering if you still think your comic is funny (I do, or I wouldn't read it, before somebody jumps down my throat.)

What do you think of Stephen Colbert?

Why is there a link from the strip to the forums, but no link from the forums back to the strip?
