Then I ask the fan why they like They're Certainly Shit. I have yet to receive an answer other than "Because they're really good and I like them. How can you not like them?"

That's not to defend TMBG, however. Hear me out. I enjoyed them in year 5. Then, in about year 7, I looked upon them and thought to myself "God, what have I been listening to?". I got into real music shortly afterwards.

edit: And in fact, they are responsible for THE most timeless song ever written - you're older than you've ever been, and now you're even older, and now you're even older, you're older than you've ever been and now you're even older, and now you're older still.

TMBG is something of a gimmick band...listen to them for thematic connectivity, not brilliant musical expression.
