Well, it can't be the full grouping as the picture I've seen floating around that's widely recognized as potentially the final select screen is missing Sonic.

I don't know but something about that list seems off to me. wait, I think there might be one more character to be added, probably from Starfox, look at all the characters, most of them are lined up in vertical lines from their series, yet lucario and bowser are out of their lines. but if another character was slotted between Dede and lucario everyone would line up.

I think that's a random option.
Oh wait, did you mean the white space next to Lucas, or are you considering that there's still room on the bottom row for one more?
