I am all in favor for "neo folk/neoclassical phases with a little bit of gothic rock thrown in". Because Neo-folk is ace.

Even though Kim Larsen is my countryman, I never listen to Of the Wand and Moon since Lucifer was really dull. Besides all that talk about  the devil seemed a bit... I don't know juvenile? As if he had taken Mayhem's subject matter and made it more introspective.

I have heard something or another about Sonnenheim, was that any good?

I enjoy it.  A couple of the songs are....sub-par, imho.  Wonderful, Wonderful sun seemed kinda chintzy, and I Shall Feast takes too long to end.

Neo-Folk is one of the best things that you can sink your teeth into. But I hav'nt seen you mentioning Current 93. FOR SHAME! Go get yourself Thunder Perfect Mind, All the Pretty Little Horses and Cats Drunk On Copper.
I'd also suggest trying Novo Homo, The Well Of Sadness and Sonne Hagal.

The only Current 93 song i have is Sadness song....and his voice and mannerism in that just reminds me of storytime at the local library.  Just the random ephasis on words and the sugary-sweet tone that he uses rubs me wrong.

Also, I'd go get me some music if i didn't live in fscking ALASKA where half of America's music hasn't come out yet

Apatheia is nice.  Soulseek is decent.  I had it for a while, forgot about it.  May download it again.

Currently: Voltaire, Dead Girls http://voltaire.net/

Wow, I just found this quote about one of Voltaire's albums:
Quote
This album really does sound like it could be the soundtrack to the musical Brecht and Kurt Weil would write if Weil was reincarnated as an lesbian folksinger from Estonia who recently emigrated to Marin County, and Brecht as a vicious show-tune queen from New York who’s just been dumped by his lover of 40 years who ran away to Sedona with a 19-year old Italian model named Carlo.

I'm currently heavily getting into Blood Axis. Also, Ostara, Die Natalis, Darkwood, Forseti, The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath a Cloud, Fire+Ice, Hekate and Argine, all to lesser or greater extents. I need more Gae Bolg and Changes, but the shit is hard to get.

In a Robe of Fire is my favourite :Of The Wand And The Moon: song as well, followed closely by Here's to Misery off the same album. Have you heard the alternate version from the I Crave For You EP? It's quite different, but quite nice, with a more standard DI6 style guitar backing. Am I the only person who thinks that :Of The Wand And The Moon: is pretty blatant Rose Clouds of Holocaust-era DI6 worship btw?

And thanks for reminding me I still need to get hold of In The Rain.

Yeah, you've wandered into a nest of half-crazed neo-folk enthusiasts here son. Stay, we have crumpets.

Blood Axis - Reign I Forever (Gospel of Inhumanity version)

This is a fucking powerful track. I love the hopeless imagery of eternal war:

"Force rules the world still
Has ruled it, shall rule it;
Meekness is weakness
Strength is triumphant
Over the whole earth

Still is it Thor's-Day!

I am the God Thor
I am the War God
Here in my Northlands
My fastness and fortress

Reign I forever!
Reign I forever!
Reign I forever!
Forlorn forever..."

I've been feverishly drawing something off this for the past couple of days. Would be finished now but I'm out of yellow and black ink, and nearly out of red.

Gives you some idea what I'm cooking up, lol.

Also, it's fucking killing me, what's the name of the piece of music that Reign I forever samples? I know I have it on vinyl somewhere, but I can't remember what it's fucking called...I thought it might be Mars from the Planets but I'm pretty sure it's not.

I am nobody's son.  I don't have the right parts.

Also, asked friend who got me into the genre your question.  His answer:  Reign I Forever is based on the 'Montagues and Capulets' theme from Act 1 of Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet.

Edit:

He just sent me Blood Axis: Lord of Ages...  He has aninteresting voice

I'm trying to picture this  but I honestly I just can't, all I get in my head is a picture of an Emo band playing Freezing Moon. It's cracking me up.

I'm currently playing Darkthrone - Hans Siste Vinter off of the very underated Panzerfaust, their first album as a two peice band.

Area - With Louise

This is not the 70's Italian progressive rock/fusion/avant-garde band of the same name that we all know and love, but an 90's Illinois band who I guess I would classify as dream pop, at least from this song. Sounds strongly influenced by the Cocteau Twins, but less overtly trippy, and with a guitar chord progression straight out of a 50's ballad for a chorus.

Well that's where the pseudo-musical part comes in.
I don't play an instrument(yeah I know I am going about it all wrong...), so I just bang on everything within reach. My equipment consists of my computer and a shoddy headset. Right now I manipulate all sorts of sounds in Audacity, which is a rather simplistic program.
It is quite rough and amateurish for now but everything has to start somewhere. I figure if I want anything worthwhile I should move on to more advanced programs like Fruity Loops or something.

I'd suggest you try AudioMulch. I think its probably one of the best electronic music software out there. It has pretty much all you need, but working with other softwares together with it would probably be best.
Audacity is a great sofware too. Combining to two would probably be awsome.

I was up at 1:20 a couple of nights ago and saw that Subterranian was on MTV2 and I happened to catch this video. I was suprised. What an awesome song. I don't know if the rest of their stuff is this good, but this is great.

The Mountain Goats - This Year

I like listening to this song when I'm having a shitty day.
Perks me right up. ^_^

"I broke free on a Saturday morning,
I put the pedal to the floor.
Headed north on Mills Avenue,
and listened to the engine roar.

My broken house behind me and good things ahead,
a girl named Cathy wants a little of my time.
Six cylinders underneath the hood crashing and kicking,
Ha ha! listen to the engine whine!

I am gonna make it through this year if it kills me!"

There is no such thing as under-diluted lemonade.  Poorly proportioned, perhaps, but more lemon flavor is almost invariably better.

On the electronic music software note, I find Rebirth to be tremendously entertaining.  The sequencer blows (I much prefer the FruityLoops one, which is bumpin'), but the sound will make any acid fan wet his pants.

Currently listening to:
Blockhead - Downtown Science

This is what instrumental hip-hop is all about.  Seamlessly-produced, emotional soundscapes.  Pretty bloody awesome.

According to my dad, it is actually 'one of those days I'm gonna chop you to little pieces' and one of these days I'm gonna dance with the little pixies' played both at the same time, and he's been listening to Pink Floyd records for, well, a long long time, so I trust him on that.

I'm not listening to anything at the moment. I'm playing with my shiny new Hohner harmonica support and Lee Oskar blues harp in G. It is like a stereotypical prison cell in here, and I can still type. Genius!

The Raveonettes - Veronica Fever

Damn The Raves were downright dangerous on Whip It On!
Not to say that what came after was bad but Chain Gang of Love was arguably more poppy.
Then on Pretty in Black they became a bit confused and took the 60's loving a wee step too far.
The track with Ronnie Spector was weak and weird in my opinion.

The Fall - Grotesque (After the Gramme) - "How I Wrote Elastic Man"

The first time I heard this song (about a week ago), I was struck with the funniest sensation of déjà entendu. For some reason the chorus sounds really, really familiar. Can anyone recall what I might be thinking of?

And am I the only one who could swear Mark E. Smith is actually saying "How I Wrote Plastic Man"?

Ulver - Blinded by Blood

As far as I can discern this is a song for Garm's son(?). What is interesting is that it is a bit on the newage side and has a soul vocal sample ala Moby in it. Which is the complete opposite of the racket that is Christmas just before it. There is a good deal of contrast on Blood Inside.
