I remmember listening to samples from Blood Inside and not liking it. But I think I'll still get the album once I have all of Ulver's discography.

I'm listening to Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique preformed by the Prague Symphony Orchestra. This was one of the best parts in lerning classical music history.

Add N to {x} - The Sound of Accelerating Concrete

Just picked up the album "On The Wires Of Our Nerves" for dirt cheap (yaay used at Rasputin) and I'm damn impressed.  Add N to
  • sounds a lot cooler when they're rocking out and doing awesome experimental Moog-dickery instead of electroclash-with-vocoders.  Not that the latter would *necessarily* be a bad idea.  But nontheless.  Twisted and atmospheric electronic seen through the sepia-tone of vintage synthesizers.
Sounds like this may be worth checking out. I own "avant hard" & "loud like nature"-i like them, but would much prefer the vintage synth dickery lol. I'm listening to

Xiu Xiu-I luv the valley, oh

I have to admit I wasn't fond of xiu xiu at first listen, but after hearing this, I was sold.....probably one of the darkest songs of the human condition, in which jamie stewart reveals he will only rest when he is dead, yet knows he could never bring himself to commit suicide. the vocals are so visceral, as is his declaration of love for misery & depression as means of escape from dealing with tragedy. Not exactly easy listening, but sometimes we need to be reminded that life doesn't always work itself out to a perfect resolution.

Two completely different sounding albums by the same artist.

The Top Hat Carriers -  Live in Beit Shemesh
One of my favorite Israeli rock bands. Realesed one album and a "collection" CD with bootlags and different versions of songs. Too bad nobody knows them, I used to listen to them all the time last year, and me and two good friends of mine would allways make references to them and nobody would get us. We have a sad highschool.
Actually, this is'nt a live song. Its just called Live in Beit Shemesh. It had the most insane video clip ever.

Electric Eel Shock - Suicide Rock'n'Roll

Imagine some good old rock, played garage style. Add to that crazy Japanese people with a rather feeble grasp of the English language. Now picture them naked. ... You can add a sock, if you want to. Yeah, so that's Electric Eel Shock. Stupid fun, I highly recommend them.

Skade - Udstrakt Hånd

In my efforts to fuck about, I have now sampled from the Boredoms song Seadrum. You know the beginning where there is a woman who wails?
Yep I have cut, given it a lot of reverb/echo and extented the wail at the end. It sounds kind of cool if you ask me, probably immensely illegal.
But as long as I keep it to myself, I am sure Yamatsuka Eye won't hunt me down.
I hope.

Ryan Adams - Luminol

Funny thing about Ryan Adams is the title of his album's always perfectly represent said albums feel. (Eg. Heartbreaker is the single most depressing album I own while Rock 'n Roll is the most straight up "rock 'n roll" I've heard in about a year).

I have got to say I have been listing to 3 albums as of late

1. The Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldier [Was watching muchmoremusic "Steady As She Goes" came on and I was hooked!]
2. Bear Vs. Shark - terrorhawk  [mostly because it reminds me of "Fall Of Troy."]
3. Clap your hands say Yeah! - Clap your hands say Yeah! [Don't know why, but whynot?]

There is a dash of Panic! At the Disco in their too, along with some Daft Punk. [Mainly because both have very catchy songs that I always end up humming...]

Uh, I'm listening to "The Art of a Soft Landing" by Antimatter.

This song is like a blanket of Zen tranquility wrapped around an emocore hand grenade.  It starts out so innocuously, massaging your earballs with rose-scented baby oil, and then right at the end -- poof -- drops you off a cliff into a pit of gothy, distorted power chords.  Top it off with a bit of primal screaming, and you have yourself a genuwhine angsty testament to -- whoops, wait ... the power chords are gone, and now we fade out with a NIN-style piano arpeggio ...

It sounds like I don't like this song.  That's just my mood talking -- the fact is, I LOVE this song, and almost everything else on their Lights Out album.  But it's like 3:36 in the morning, and I'm cranky from insomnia.

Wait till I talk about Assemblage 23 or Android Lust.  I love those guys, but they REALLY piss me off sometimes.  Ah, the love-hate relationship between artist and know-it-all fanboy.

Some delightful 90's electronic to kick off my switch to BlackBox as my standard UI.  Always gets the endorphins flowing, "Accelerator" does.  FSOL before they were brooding and organic, and way before they got stoned out of their gourds and made a massive prog-rock wankfest.

Pink - Try This

I have difficulty making my mind up about Pink.  While she has a great voice and has the ability to jump between genres and deliver a wide variety of music, I tend to feel that she specifically writes music to be popular.  Especially in the new album, all of the choruses are predictably catchy and cookie-cutter pop.  However, there are some great moments, such as the beginnings of Fingers and U & Ur Hand, which could almost be compared to Peaches

^ If you haven't heard it already and can find it, you should try and track down a live cover that Dream Theater did of The Trooper with Brucie on vocals. Quite fantastic.

Ah! Thanks for that, i hadnt heard it and i'm glad i have now. Now im not sure where to organise it to ... Neither Maiden nor Dream theatre .. I guess it goes in the big 'mixed artists' folder that i tend not to listen to due to its invariance lol.
..I dont know why (maybe hannelore does >_< ) But i HAVE to have a very nicely organised folder system ... It stems from becoming too used to aligning my C++ code...Its such a messy language that i dont dare to think how long i spend cleaning and judging the cleanliness of code. But i just have to do it .. And now i have to do it with everything *aligns pieces of paper parallel to walls*.

Listening to Megadeth - Mechanix (2002 version).
...I've a friend who insists Megadeth are better than Metallica because the great (early) years of Metallica were the growth of Mustains influence while in the band ,using The four Horseman from their first album (a down-tempo'd version of Mechanix with a soft bit added in the middle and the words changed) as his example lol.

Garm hasn't been their vocalist since I think La Masquerade Infernale. Off the top of my head, I think Sideshow Symphonies is Vintersorg?

Sol Invictus - Media

Vintersorg sings in Borknagar - not Arcturus, the new Arcturus Vocalist is Simen Hestanes, from Dimmu Borgir.

Garm left after the Sham Mirrors (my favorite Arcturus album). He does guest vocals on Ishahn's album "The Advesary" which came out about 2 months ago,  I'm trying to track down a copy at the moment. From all accounts I've heard its an excellent cd.

Green Carnation - Pile of Doubt

I read on The Metal Observer(which is where I go to look for metal) that it is ICS Vortex who now sings in Arcturus, which I suppose is the same guy right?

Ulver - Blood Inside

I love this album so much, I have neglected my new Mastodon album just because of it.

Yeah ICS Vortex is a psedonynm, it's a play on the name Garm used to use "Fiery G Maelstrom"

Most of the big Norwegian "Prog" bands are fairly incestous, Ulver, Arcturus, Borknagar, Vintersorg and Spiral Architect have all had members swapping around at some stage, though each of the bands sounds are pretty distinct now.

If I had to pick a favorite it would be hard but at the moment I'd say Vintersorg, as much as I love Ulver, "Visions From The Spiral Generator" and "The Focusing Blur" are damn amazing albums.

Limbonic Art - Deathtrip to A Mirage Asylum.

In Abhorrence Dimentia is a really great album, maybe not quite as good as Moon in the Scorpio but damn close.
