the very limited tarentel disc of live edits. it's pretty terrific. very dense and disonant and atonal and a whole lota noise, but it's incredibly well done.

Borknagar- Empiricism, prompted by someone's post in the "Brutal" thread.

Waiting for my torrents of Jesu's "Silver" EP and Pelican's "The Fire in our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw" to finish.

About the dream, to kill mankind. Kanwulf at he's misanthropic best

I really love the keyboard sound he uses on Herbstelyd, especially the choir sound, one of the best I've heard anywhere.

I dont really like Explosions In The Sky. I mean, they're a good band, but they never got me like Mogwai did. Also, I found some of their albums kind of boring.

Iron and Wine - Cinder And Smoke

"Mars" from The Planets - Gustav Holst

One of my all-time favorites.

Right on. Holst knew how to rock, that savage.

"Transport Is Arranged" - Pavement

Just BT'd their discography. One of my friends told me I would absolutely hate Pavement just because they're not classic rock. This is a dude who needs to grow up past the "You can only like one genre EVER" mentality. I'm absolutely loving this stuff. I like them about as much as I like Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, and I *really fucking like* Ted Leo & the Pharmacists.

I'm listening to Pelican- "Autumn Into Summer," I'm on a mad shoegaze/post-metal jag this past week (Jesu, Isis, Red Sparowes, Pelican, anything I can find related to Hydra Head Records on MySpace)

Thrice - Vhiessu.  I don't care what people say about this band, I think they're great musicians and they write some really great songs.  I enjoy them quite a bit.  I'm highly intrigued to hear their next album; it's supposedly going to be a 4-disc set, each disc following respective themes of Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water.  All we need now is some Heart, AMIRITE?

Kylesa - Time Will Fuse Its Worth

This is what happens when hardcore, metal and touches of krautrock meet in a dark semi-intellectual alley.
In hindsight I think it would have been on my 2006 list had I been aware of it.

The whole album is absolutely excellent. It's one of the few albums I can just lie on my bed and listen to all the way through in the dark without getting bored or falling asleep.

At the moment:

KMFDM - Juke Joint Jezebel

It was on the mp3 player of my choice this afternoon as a relic from a recent KMFDM binge. I hadn't actually heard it until then. I was pleasantly surprised. It has an addictive chorus.
