My brain just made a flowchart from this. It was awesome.

I'm listening to Pavement's "Cut Your Hair."

Motion City Soundtrack - Commit This To Memory

Downloaded on the recommendation of a friend - admittedly I should have been wary seeing as he likes Fallout Boy, but... So far, seems like little more than generic pop-punk nemo whininess. I'm sure I would have liked this if it was around when I was 16, but no more.

All the hits of yesteryear as played by whichever unimaginative idiot they've got manning the stereo. So we've got the Spice Girls, Steps, Aqua and other really really painful crap they can find.  Although now they're playing greenday's time of your life for the third time in a row after two other greenday songs so it looks like we've got another crappy theme going here. The worst thing is that the sound is at the same volume in my room (through a closed window/curtains and a brick wall or three) that I normally have music at. IT'S 2:36 IN THE GOD DAMN MORNING YOU FUCKERS, TURN THAT CRAP THE HELL DOWN. I am so gonna mow the lawn at 6:30 sunday morning.

Weird Al Yankovik - Smells Like Nirvana

I've been a fan of Weird Al for the last 7 or 8 years, and his Off the Deep End album always puts me in mind of when I was an extremely nerdy clueless teen of 15. Now, I'm an extremely nerdy clueless 21 year old. Ahh, how things have changed.

Anyway, yeah. Weird Al. He's awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing him live tomorrow evening.

Venetian Snares - Pwntendo

I never can figure out why this guy's music is actually good. This CD (Cavalcade Of Glee And Dadaist Happy Hardcore) is a lot more erratic and silly than "Rossz..." but still genius.

Yeah, the Cruxshadows are really good, but they get silly if taken too seriously. Really fuckin' fun live though.

Drudkh - When The Flame Turns To Ashes

Ukrainian prog metal band, they remind me a bit of a heavier Opeth with fuzzier production. Epic.

Freaking awesome band, far better then Opeth. Autumn Aurora is an amazing album.

RIght now I'm listening to Jesu- Sun DOwn. It's amazing, one of the best JEsu songs ever (which is saying something, because every Jesu song owns.) It's a bonus track on the Japanese edition of Conqueror, and damn, it's so good. Get this song, and every other Jesu song if you haven't already done that.

Nargaroth - Abschiedsbrief Des Prometheus

Suicide letter to Prometheus

I try to shut my soul
But I hear myself scream, hear myself groan

I like the tempo of this one, not normally a fan of the faster Nargaroth tracks but this one is excellent...

Chevelle - Point #1

Apparantly there are bands out there that are so stunningly mediocre that not even stellar production at the hands of Steve Albini can make them worth more than just a casual listen, a la remembering "Oh yeah, that's why I traded in the cd of theirs I had for store credit at the music store."

Helicopter- Bloc Party

Still pissed over the whole Ticketmaster situation. I called in to GI Joes, since they have a ticketmaster kiosk there, they say they have tickets for the Bloc Party concert. Drive all the way out to the store, they say 'oh, yeah, well, we're not even allowed to tell you if tickets are available or not over the phone. Looks like the concert is sold out'. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME! I am still pissed...and the concert is tomorrow and I am ticketless*grumbles*.

Glad to hear they're still putting out albums, Patrik Jensen kicks ass...

Emperor - Wrath of the Tyrant

Emperor, what a great fucking band, they can do raw, they can do symphonic, DM influnced and even progressive, truly on of the best 2nd wave bands, I'd say only overshadowed only by Burzum...

IX Equillibrium still blows me away everytime I hear it. The opening with "Curse You All Men!" still gives me chills.

Allen/Lande The Battle - Wish for a Miracle

All of this talk of power metal got me in the mood for some of my own. Russell Allen and Jorn Lande are brilliant vocalists and the album they did together definitely shows that.

Dodheimsgard - The Vile Delinquents

This is from their new, unreleased album Supervillain Outcast, which I've been listening to a lot for the past couple of days; it's fucking awesome. Retains the adventurousness of 666 International but tightens up the song structures incredibly both in terms of length, construction, and transition. The strange thing is that it's quite avant-garde sounding but it's so fundamentally well-constructed that it doesn't strike me as being weird in the same way that bands like DEP and Unexpect just try to make your head spin for no real reason; there's a subtlety to the inscrutability and strangeness of it that, given time to percolate, only causes the music to appear stranger.

I am actually looking forward to this one, though I don't have any prior experience with them. They have moved the release date haven't they?

The Psyke Project - Apnea

Easily the best band on the Danish metal/hardcore scene. Everything apart from the lyrics is masterful, they handle ambiance as well as full-throttle aggression and it is often mesmerizing and awe-inspiring.
This is their new album and I am hoping it will be their best album yet. The single I Get Paralyzed is a great slab of dark metallic hardcore but light-years from naff stuff like Norma Jean and the like.

Some live bootleg of Godspeed You! Black Emperor that I found online a few days ago. I only managed to make it through "Storm" before I got to work, but that's good enough to make me happy, since it's probably my favorite Godspeed song anyway. The recording quality is actually really good, so it ALMOST makes up for the fact that I've never seen them myself.

I was listening to that today too! I only got about 40 minutes into it though. Dopesmoker isn't really different, just produced a bit weird, and it's 63 as opposed to 52 minutes, so it's a fair bit slower. Both are great though. Oh, Dopesmoker comes with a bonus track at the end too.

Anyway.. Aidan Baker- The Sea Swells a bit. Awesome ocean-y ambient stuff.
