Noise Rock and Such
corwinzor:
There's a pretty awesome Japanese noise/spaz-rock band called Melt Banana. Also this 2-piece band from Japan that are now located in Minneapolis called the Birthday Suits- the guitarist is also in another noise/punk band called Sweet JAP. Okay, and to go on about Japanese bands for a while, if you're into pretty extreme noise, you could check out Acid Mothers Temple, or their side-project, Mong Hang (not as extreme, more 'tribal' sounding).
Pierre the Poet:
Yeah, Mission of Burma are amazing live. I just saw them at Pitchfork Festival, and they had twice as much energy as any other band, most of which were half their age. Liars were awesome too, and I second the Wolf Eyes recommendation.
TynansAnger:
It's pretty phenomenal that they can be so tenacious live, since Roger Miller has acute tinnitis. I mean MoB is loud enough as it is...
Pierre the Poet:
Yeah, I heard a rumor that MoB have played live gigs with Miller behind a transparent sound shell, but nothing like that was in evidence at Pitchfork. Only really loud yummy noises. . .
The Hammered:
I haven't heard very much of Melt Banana, but I like them.
