thats all i got. i dont even know what "indie" means anymore. i thought it meant you were on an independent record label but i'm not sure how true that is anymore.

All I know is that I need both new music, and to know what my GF is talking about. It sounds like I wont have to buy any new CDs either, because she has most of the CDs from the bands you've mentioned.

When I was starting out, I just went down Jeph's recommended listening list and decided what I liked and what I didn't.

My personal recommendations:  Mogwai, Broken Social Scene, The Shins, Sufjan Stevens, Wolf Parade

Chisel, Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, and anything else involving Ted Leo.

and i don't know if Fugazi would count as indie, but listen to them anyway.

Storm Rider:
As far as the bands mentioned so far in this thread, I can say as a metalhead that I cannot stand Sufjan Stevens or Wolf Parade. Isis is pretty great though.
