the last song you will ever hear
« on: 04 Oct 2006, 11:00 »

My favorite "getting to know you" question has always been:

I am holding a gun to your head. I am going to kill you, no question about it. First, however, I will allow you one song request. One song, only one, and the second it ends, I'm killing you. Goodbye. This will be the last thing you ever hear.

What song do you want me to play?

(It's kind of a silly question, but it gets the conversation started.)

Freebird. I know it is disliked by some but I really like it. Also, 10 minutes. Or mebie something by rush. On the other hand, you could play some children of bodom and I'd try and disarm you.

Can I take the comedy option of hearing “Longplayer”?  It started playing six years ago and will will finish for the first time at the turn of the next millienium.

Will the guy continually be holding a gun to my head for the thousand-year duration of the song?

Actually, this is kind of a cool idea here...

I think that if I had a choice, I would want my last song ever heard to be "Jane Doe" by Converge.  I always thought that would be a really good way for me to go out, listening to that song...

Maybe Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto. It's so beautiful and long enough for me not to regret it too much.

i'm gonna go with either "Hearts Frozen Soil Sod Once More By The Spring Of Rage, Despair, And Hopelessness" by AFI because its less than a minute long and half the song consists of "whoa! whoa! i will die screaming! *repeat*"

or "Hurricane" by Bob Dylan because i wouldnt regret hearing that one last time.

Sister Ray by the Velvet Underground. Either the studio version or the 38-minute one on the Quine Tapes.

I suppose I'd also consider Television's Elevation. Seems like it would be kind of appropriate.

I'd probably listen to Sleep's "Dopesmoker," because it's 63 or so minutes long, and simultaneously both cool enough and sad enough to warrent being a last song ever.

In all seriousness, probably "Bohemian Rahpsody".  Partly for the mildly ironic beggining but mostly because I like it.

'Punk Rock Song' by Avenue D

Fuck me fuck me fuck me hard
fuck me in a vat of lard
throw me up against the wall
let me grab you by the balls
why don't we just fuck right here
on the bar, move the beer
pull my hair, grab my neck,
lube me up with cum and sweat

I don't give a shit, come on my tits
make me twitch, I'm a dirty bitch

bend over, shut your eyes
grit your teeth, spread your thighs

I don't give a shit, come on my tits
make me twitch, I'm a dirty bitch

beat me beat me beat me up
in your rusty pick up truck
make me suck your rock hard cock
shove it in my pretty cunt

I don't give a shit, come on my tits
make me twitch, I'm a dirty bitch

pump me pump me pump me full
let me ride you like a bull
throw me down treat me rough
don't stop till I've had enough
treat me like a dirty slut
stick your fingers in my butt
wrap my legs around your head
if you cum right now, YOU'RE DEAD!

I don't give a shit, come on my tits
make me twitch, I'm a dirty bitch

While we're talking about Pixies songs, I think Hang Wire or Stormy Weather would be good songs for this. Broken Face would be appropriate lyrically, though I don't love it quite as much as I used to.

While I'm tempted to say Maggot Brain, by Funkadelic (OMG GUITAR), I would probably go for Longplayer as well.  1000 years is a nice long time to live.

While Untitled 7 (Dauđalagiđ) would be most appropriate, I'd have to go with Untitled 8 (Popplagiđ) by Sigur Rós.

Second choice would be Mogwai Fear Satan by Mogwai.

Any of those songs would be awesome.

I might pick Washer or Good Morning, Captain by Slint, but that's really just indicative of my current listening habits.

probably "fuck you" by the queers. it's like 40 seconds long and gets right to the point. i don't think i'd have the nerve to sit and listen to a 12 minute long mogwai song or some moody introspective sigur ros thing knowing that i'd be shot in the head in a matter of moments.

Probably 'Generator' by Holloways so I'd forget I was about to die and start dancing the happy dance to throw off the gun weilder.

Or, y'know, something miserable, vaguely poignant and entirely inappropriate.

Like 'How Soon Is Now'. But done by Tatu.

I think I'll pick 'Ready To Die' by The Unicorns.

Sure, it's a really short song, but I still like it. AND I GUESS ITS APPROPRIATE, SINCE I'M READY TO DIE.

Huh, now that I think about, maybe 'I Don't Wanna Die,' which is also by The Unicorns.  I can't decide!

well, while it is only six seconds long, and i agree with you that it is an appropriate choice, there exists one insurmountable difference between "comma..." and "fuck you." this, of course, lies in the fact that "fuck you" will leave one dancing around shouting, "i don't wanna hang around with you, i think you suck and smell bad too," or perhaps more appropriately, "fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, fuck you." and, of course, if i'm going out, i want to do it while shouting expletives.

No, really, I think I'd go with Sweet Avenue by Damien Rice. I haven't heard much else by the guy, the song isn't the best song evar OMG, and I don't even know how I got it, but I like it a lot. Seems like it would be a decent note to go out on, just feeling contented-like and happy.
