Breaks. Good, solid, funky fucking broken beats.
Why? Because it's not complicated, it's not particularly intellectual, it just makes me want to dance.

Well, to be fair, the term "pop-punk" conjures images of Blink-182 and Fall Out Boy in most people's heads. You have to take the good with the bad, I suppose.

I saw the Buzzcocks. Before the show they played stuff like Blink and Green Day over the PA. I love the idea of pop-punk, and the old stuff is good... but even in its current form its like pure rock. Dumb, fun stuff for kids.

yeah it totally sucks about what is considered pop punk. you say it and then people say simple plan.....and then you hit said person for being stupid.
theres more recent pop punk like dillinger 4, unlovables, chixdiggit, lillingtons, etc and then theres mtv crap rock like blink, simple plan, good charlotte.
when will people learn????????
*burns little brother's good charlotte cd and then puts on screeching weasel way too loud........
muffy:
I actually really like a load of the commercially defined pop-punk stuff (fall out boy, panic! et al),
I think it's because I spend so much time with scenester types that after spending an hour discussing the merits of The Horrors' haircuts or the fact that no-one likes Test Icicles anymore, my brain gives up and goes 'must listen to the one thing that will offend the musos' and is drawn like a radar to the Panic album or something equally sneered upon.
