muffy:
Music that sounds like it was formed from the tears of agonised children.
And pop. But anguished pop.
Happiness has no place in my music colection..

The Mountain Goats - No Children
This is a song I can listen to ad nausem.
It is full of spite and humour, the perfect antithesis to all of the sugary love crap used to perpetuate unrealistic expectations of love.

Favourites include Screeching Weasel, The Queers, Jawbreaker, MTX, The Lillingtons and Teenage Bottlerocket.
Its all just so damn catchy and fun.

Jawbreaker's a bit dark and moody to be considered pop-punk, I think. Their approach is also pretty different from those other bands you've listed. I usually refer to them as "melodic punk rock", alongside Leatherface, Hot Water Music, The Broadways, Gunmoll, old-school Alkaline Trio, et al.

Hmm... if I put on No Children i'd have to stop listening to Palmcorder Yanja, and the bit where he sings 'Laugh lines on our faces/scale maps of the ocean floor' is one of the best moments in music
