Slick:
Fallout 1 & 2: Easily two of the best games I've ever played.
Do we have anything more, though? I love the style, ambiance, plot, and everything about fallout, so is there you guys play that can get me my fix for living the life of a nomadic gunslinger in the post-apocalyptic wasteland?

ackblom12:
Wasteland.

Otherwise, you really won't find anything that seriously compares in any way whatsoever.

Storm Rider:
You guys do know there's gonna be a third one eventually, right?

Bethesda is a pretty effin' good developer (you may have heard of the Elder Scrolls series), so I'd be pretty confident that they'd do it up right. But I didn't play either of the first two, so I can't really say for certain. Not to mention nothing has been said about that game since Bethesda announced they had bought the rights, so who knows what state it's in now.

ackblom12:
The main reservation that several Fallout fans have about Bethesda doing the game is that while The Elder Scrolls is a great series, they are not anywhere near the same kind of game that Fallout is. They happen to share the same genre and the whole idea of doing pretty much anything you want, but Fallout actually put a decent amount of focus on the overall storyline, and was a traditional turn based RPG. The fact they bought the rights to the SPECIAL system though is very encouraging, as well as the fact that the guys that did the Dark Brotherhood story arc in Oblivion are heading it up, but this is still very much NOT the kind of game Behtesda is known for.

For me personally, it's also because Bethesda has never shown any indication that they are able to make interesting personalities for NPC's, and they've never made a game to my knowledge that relies a lot on its very, very, very dark humor. I think BeThesda will do a decent job on Fallout 3, but I'm not so sure It's gonna feel like a real Fallout game to me.

I highly reccomend you check out Fallout 1&2. there's no excuse for it anymore since its so cheap. You will be required to download patches for the games though, lots of gamebreaking bugs in 2 if you don't.

Seriously, do it. There's nothing like slipping an armed Time Bomb onto a smalll child who just stole your Power Armor.

Scytale:
War, War never changes...

Love Fallout and Fallout 2. Definately a fan.
