It's always seemed to be a bit obvious that Daenarys and Jon would get together, but they seem top be doing so a bit ... quickly... (That said, I'm aware that this and next season will be very short insofar as numbers of episodes go, so maybe rushing it for a reason?

It would be interesting if this is NOT how it is going, however!

There is a quite compelling theory out there that Tyrion is ALSO Targaryen... Considering that we saw Jon stroke the dragon, and it let him (and caused Danearys some confusion!)... BUT... Tyrion did the same thing when he fed them. Three Targaryen's, three dragons... one united seven kingdoms?

I’ve never been convinced by Tyrion being a Targaryen. It’d be cool, but I just don’t see it. You don’t necessarily need to be a Targaryen for a dragon to like you.

Cleganebowl DENIED! You shameless teases.
Littlefinger whimpering and BEGGING was the most delicious death yet. They'll have trouble topping that catharsis when Cersei dies next season.
I was genuinely wondering if they were going to have the wight be DEAD when Sandor kicked over the box in the dragonpit.
The introduction of the Golden Company feels very abrupt and unearned. I'm now worried that they'll suddenly have a SURPRISE LADY STONEHEART!!! next season.
We all KNEW that the Night King was going to use Viserion to bring down the Wall but that was still a powerful scene. I was whispering to myself, "C'mon! Three blasts on the horn! THREE BLASTS ON THE HORN!"
All the reunion and "I've missed you" scenes in this episode almost felt like the final party scene in Mass Effect 3 (yeah, it's in the Citadel DLC but I consider that an integral part of the game) before the final battle where everything goes to hell and far too many characters die in a pointless fashion.
I'm still not onboard with the whole JonAegon VI/Daenerys relationship. I mean, yeah, I don't exactly expect the Man Who Knows Nothing to have much in the way of emotional maturity but it's all just too.....teenager for my tastes.

So...Jon is Aegon, but so is his half-brother. I know that Aegon most likely didn’t survive in the show, but he was explicitly not Lyanna’s son in the books. I’m taking this as final proof of the book and shows truly taking different paths and that is not a complaint.

Yeah, they've kind of been hinting that Jamie's going to be the one to 'off' Cersei since at least the start of this short season... Whereas the Littlefinger scene was well played, it was sooo obvious!!

Last I remember seeing is that they were filming 7&8 back to back? And are just spreading it out for "reasons"...?

From what I have heard, the last season is going to air late 2018 or early 2019.

Production dates have been listed as starting in October this year and ending early to mid 2018. So there goes the theory that they did back to back production.

But its more a security precaution as well. This season saw a couple of episodes leaked, so it might be a case of them leaving production close to the chest, so to speak.

I still haven't started reading the series yet, but it's my understanding that the final volume is still unreleased because Martin has been writing prequels and side stories instead. Isn't that how Jordan died with the Wheel of Time left unfinished?

Sure, it's a large effort, but it also hints at a lack of focus.

That's pretty much GRRM in a nutshell, full of great ideas but can't focus worth a damn. Also, he's great at worldbuliding but can't move a narrative. At the rate things are going I'm expecting him to keep scribbling manuscript pages until he dies, then after a couple of years the publisher will hire Brandon Sanderson and both the 1700 page monsters will be out within a year.

The Walking Dead is an ongoing comic book series with no end planned as yet, and the show was never a straight adaptation of the books.

Thankfully I had better sense than to start reading The Wheel of Time.

I basically quit reading Wheel of Time about halfway through.  The overall story seemed to get bogged down by an ever-growing Gordian knot of plot threads with none seeming like they'd never get resolved because, basically, Jordan wasn't a good enough writer to get himself out of that corner.  I suspect that the same is in play here (although I haven't read Martin's books).

Well, where he left off, it did start feeling that way to me. But not, I should say, to an extent that it's unsolvable in two books. In another series, I'm waiting for the next instalment, just to see how they're going to manage to pull together the different plot-and timelines. Similarly, it's several years overdue, now. But that writer gave herself only a single book to work it out - which seems ambitious.

It just occurred to me that maybe they deliberately aired the episode where nobody dies (rather than a normal episode, where someone usually dies) on Catholic/Protestant Easter. Because, you know. Otherwise it might fuel unwelcome speculation and/or upset some people.

Episode 3 had a few good moments, but I've got the feeling it also was rather lame.

All through this episode, I was thinking "Arya is a fecking JEDI!" (mostly based on the initial breach of Winterfell with her dual bladed polearm) and I was well pleased!

And then, of course, came the climax... (which, I hate to say... I totally called... My other half was adamant that there was no way that would happen    )  ...and part of me thought ... "Is this HBO saying to Disney, "THIS is how a Jedi is born. They learn, they suffer, they grow... they don't just wake up one day and can kill the Night King, there's a SHEDLOAD of stuff they have to go through first."

(It was the similarity of the 'dropping of the lightsaber' shot in the Throne Room, when Arya was being held by the neck and dropped her blade to her other hand that did it.)

I really liked the episode as a whole, but it suffered greatly insofar as I can only watch it through "Now TV" through my xbox1, which meant the picture was bloody awful when it was dark. The scenes with the dragons was overlong and made little sense. I also think it suffered from "And then someone died.... or no wait.. they didn't!!" a few times.

But... yeah, decent episode.

Going forward, I can only hope the "families who did not answer" to the call to winterfell will be there to march against King's Landing... otherwise where will The North get an army?

I dunno if I can see the "insane Targaryens" taking the throne again... (And Daenarys is certainly of that stock!)
Especially not if they are Aunt and Nephew. (Mind you, everyone knew the last two kings were the product of sibling incest... didn;t seem to make any odds!)

I'm wondering about the significance of a small detail. Just as Theon is preparing to defend Bran at the Godswood; taking aim, at the first sight of a wight a raven passes in front. Bran is still presumably warging. It's a fraction of a second.
