Australian Pink Floyd?
« on: 13 Feb 2007, 17:23 »

They're coming to my town in april, and I'm wondering whether I should go see them.

I've heard some good things. Does anyone have any opinions?

Wait, do you mean Pink Floyd is coming, or a band called "Australian Pink Floyd"?

Either way, I would say no. Pink Floyd don't need any more money and I can't get behind the idea of cover bands. Covers only work in music. You can't do 'covers' in literature or art or pornography. Bands doing covers is OK, but bands whose entire existence is based on covering a single bands' music irritate me.

Most pornography is kind of just plays on the exact same theme anyhow.

I've got tickeets for these guys next month. I hear it is good shit. There is a perfectly good point in cover bands for bands that are no longer touring.

I say go, because they are really, really good.

That's a stupid reason to see a music band though.

The world is divided into two groups: those who would pay money to see a Pink Floyd covers band, and those who think the very idea sounds absolutely excruciating.

I don't think it'd be excruciating, but I just can't imagine paying money to see a COVERS band.

Guys, it's not that I would see an Australian Pink Floyd, as much as I would see a band called "Australian Pink Floyd" whose music was almost or completely unrelated to Pink Floyd's music.

They're an Australian pink floyd. They only do Pink Floyd songs.

Can you imagine if you named your band after famous groups, and then played completely unrelated music. I think that would make my day.

I am a huge Floyd fan, and can you link their MySpace (if they have one) please?

Also, Roger Waters played Roskilde festival not long ago, doing Dark Side of the Moon.

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=129399325 . Aussie floyd's myspace.

So far, after Live 8, they're not going to do another world tour. They'd be willing to play for charities and stuff, but not touring.
