The New Pornographers - Challengers

<< < (3/12) > >>

E. Spaceman:
Electric Version is by far the weakest, in my opinion. It has one excellent track (the laws have changed) and one good one (from blown speakers) but other than that it is prwetty weak. Twin Cinema is my favourite I think.

McTaggart:
Twin Cinema wasn't really consistant enough. There were maybe four awesome tracks that I really really liked. This would have been great if the ones in between were average or actually fit in with the awesome ones. I dunno, maybe I need to give it another listen. I'd still catch them live if it was under $30.

Johnny C:
Still Mass Romantic for me.

Twin Cinema is pretty great. From "Use It" to "Stacked Crooked" is a solid block of brilliant songwriting. "Streets Of Fire" is also probably one of my favourite songs from 2005 in retrospect.

McTaggart:
Ok, I've just listened to Twin Cinema maybe four times today. It's pretty good.

grrraham:
fuck the new pornographers for focussing on songcraft at the expense of high energy
i mean, sure I like The Bleeding Heart Show and These are the Fables
But I didn't want to listen to a whole album of songs like that.

bring back the AC Newman who would rewrite and edit songs until the lyrics made no sense and you never had to wait more than seven bars for a new hook
