The New Pornographers - Challengers

I'm waiting....I am usually the first to get all over a leak but I am waiting, WAITING.
Am I the only one that tends to favour the Dan Bejar songs on each album? Testament to Youth In Verse is my favourite NP's song...and I'm really excited to read that he's contributed three tracks to Challengers.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here though and say that AS AN ALBUM I think Twin Cinema is my favourite. Really. I like the slow/fast song dynamic. (Like I said, I love Bejar....so I am probably the only person who liked Streets of Fire. Sigh.)
Felix_:
I've only heard "Electric Version", and I enjoy it very much, so I suppose I should probably check out the other albums?
Worth seeing live?
pilsner:
Felix, if Neko Case is singing, definitely yes. It's one thing to bid for her underclothes but seeing her live . . . man that's something else entirely.

Twin Cinema is pretty great. From "Use It" to "Stacked Crooked" is a solid block of brilliant songwriting. "Streets Of Fire" is also probably one of my favourite songs from 2005 in retrospect.

Agreed. Letter From An Occupant is a fine, fine song, as is the title track.
ScrambledGregs:
You can't go wrong with a New Pornos record, even if from what you people are saying it's a change in direction. I tend to think this is a good thing. For what it's worth, I think Twin Cinema is my favorite, if only because the Bejar songs are so fucking good. 'Jackie, Dressed In Cobras' and 'Streets of Fire' are addictive power-pop so good they outdo all the AC Newman tracks, aside from maybe 'Sing Me Spanish Techno.'
