Iron and Wine - The Sheperd's Dog
« on: 12 Jul 2007, 12:36 »

Due out in September, just from hearing one song I can tell that Sam Beams third full length album is going to be pretty amazing. I'm sure that "Boy With A Coin" is all over the net, so go listen to it!

It leaked a few weeks ago. I downloaded it and listened to it once and really liked it but I haven't had a chance to listen again all the way through. I'm in the habit of doing that. I need to spend more time listening to it but my initial reaction was a very positive one. Not that I'm surprised by that or anything. Iron and Wine is great (except for that album they did with  Callexico).

I wondered why Iron & Wine was on the front page of Myspace...Now I have to hear it.

Also I would like to point out that the combination of Sailor Moon and faux-Kerouac / Sonic Youth spelling is perhaps the purest distillation of what this forum is that we have yet been presented with.

The charm has gone for me.  I absolutely adore the first couple of albums, really welcomed the bits that were more band-based on Our Endless Numbered Days, but have just steadily found myself less and less interested in each release.  I think the leak of this sounds quite interesting, but I just don't give a shit about the songs.  I've long since trashed the files, I'll see what happens when the album's released.

You should find it! I only have mp3s to be honest. And bad ones at that. I do want the real thing b/c the title song alone is worth the price/the search. It's great.

My two favourites are The Sea and the Rythmn and In the Reins (with Calexico). For music that's very lyrics-centric I find it really annoying how low his voice always is in the mix. Also his longer releases just get a little boring I suppose.
