Make up your own Hold Steady lyric.
« on: 29 Jul 2007, 19:13 »

Pretty self-explanatory.  Make up lyrics that sound like they could be in Hold Steady songs.  Things like meter and rhythm don't really matter, this is The Hold Steady we're imitating after all.

She said, "Nick Lowe came to my birthday party.
And then he couldn't stop laughing
When the conversation turned to peace, love, and understanding."

Man, no takers?

He was trippin' on mescaline,
Staring blankly at the Nativity scene
I decided to leave when he started beatin' on the figurines.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

I don't quite understand it myself.  But apparently, it's okay to use anti-gay slurs, so long as you're not actually referring to gay people.

I'll have to confer with some actual gay people about that, but straight people who are rather proud of their manliness seem to feel that way.

But actually, there has been a study that measured people's arousal when being shown male and female pictures.  And they managed to correlate homosexual arousal with hostility toward homosexuals.  So that just proves it:  All of Congress is gay.

Ok, my comment was designed to cause serious anger from you guys as a friend told me you LOVE the hold steady, and I find them somewhat mediocre. Sorry!

I think that they use "having a good time" as an excuse for lackluster song-writing. Their last album seriously disappointed after what I had expected.

I like the Hold Steady, but sometimes they do sound a little lazy.
Here's my stab at a Hold Steady lyric.

He said it's hard to lose when you're a winner.
She said it's hard to win when you're a sinner.

That made me lol.

I like them also, but I do have to admit, the lyrics can be a bit ridiculous. But that's only if you look at them the wrong way. ;)

Some of their lyrics are awesome too.
Ive always liked the lyrics to "How a Resurrection Really Feels"

and of course,

"I was seeing double for three straight days,
after I got born again
And it feel so good to be around so many people
well, of course half of them were visions
the other half i knew from being in the program with me"
I think thats it
I didnt look it up
