Is Centrino any good?

<< < (2/7) > >>

Ernest:
Oh man, guys, I'm sorry.  I was kinda loopy when I started this thread.  I know what Centrino means.  I don't know what got into me.  Can we make this thread where you guys link me to good notebooks priced around $1200?

MlKE:
do you go to school?

if so, see if your school can point you in the direction of a company they work with for lower rates for students.

Otherwise, www.newegg.com is a pretty excellent website for buying new hardware.

MlKE:
my laptop was actually free from my school. it's a Lenovo IBM Thinkpad R60.

and for being free, it's insanely awesome.

It doesn't have a whole bunch of fancy features, but it's got everything I need, enough hdd space, enough power to play civilization iv..

and the option i like the most is the mouse dot thing in the middle of the keyboard, instead of using the trackpad.

Haha, really? Everyone alway sasks me to disable it for them.

MlKE:
they're crazy. it's about 1000x more convienient. it's pressure sensitive, you don't have to pick up your finger ever, and it's right in the middle of the keyboard, so you barely have to move your hand to go from mouse moving to typing.

so, when you disable it, do you just take the little red dot out of the keyboard for them? because it's basically the same thing as disabling it?
