Gigs you've been to and your thoughts.
imagist42:
Really? What are yours? Mine are basically that I hate being anywhere that so many people have such vast freedom to light up just about whatever they want wherever they want, particularly upwind of me. That and the venue ought to open up wider, side-to-side, rather than opening up toward the back in such a narrow manner. Makes for very little room to be anywhere close to the stage or otherwise in sight of the band.
a pack of wolves:
--- Quote from: Objects inside Clouds on 23 May 2008, 14:41 ---I saw Earth play with Pelican and Priestbird last summer and I can't say I remember Earth being too terribly loud. I may be insensitive to loudness though, since my hearing isn't exactly top notch (nor is it terribly bad, thank you).

They were playing at an All Tomorrow's Parties I was at last year and I figured I'd catch some of their set since I quite enjoyed Earth 2. Then I heard them checking their amps and realised I was not going to enjoy it. You didn't need good hearing to know it was loud either, the vibrations made you shake. They must not have had the same kind of gear when you saw them, either that or you're made of steel.

Actually I am practically a midget, but I am pretty sure you were standing a few rows in front of me at some point! If you were standing at the right-most edge of the stage! I was not sure, and very drunk, so I did not say hi.
The show was amazing. I took a picture.

I was at the right-most end of the stage! I think I saw you too. You shouted something when they were going on with the "Heat Stroke" thing, right before Efrim trashed Vampire Weekend if I am correct.
Anyway, that show was fucking ridiculous. It was probably one of the best shows I've been to. The opening act, Vic Chestnut, was pretty fucking good too. One thing I noticed about him is that on some songs is that when members from a silver mt. zion came on, they seemed to inject some godspeed influence in there. Especially the last one. The way Efrim tremolo picked screamed godspeed. Which was cool. After that, Silver Mt. Zion just blew the place away. They opened with one of their new songs, which is probably one of their best to date. They seemed to play their older songs with a heavier edge cause of their new sound, which was really awesome. They even had ridicouly good stage banter. I really wish I had recorded it.
This is the DC setlist if I am remembering correctly.
I Built Myself A Metal Bird, I Fed My Metal Bird The Wings Of Other Metal Birds (new song)
Could've Moved Mountains
Mountains Made Of Steam
1,000,000 Died To Make This Sound
There's a Light
Encore
Microphones In The Trees
I think that is correct. I also have pictures, but there are so many that I will not dump them here.
