Always properly tag your music
amok:
Fur Elise has been on the top-played Mozart tracks on last.fm since forever.
People on the internet are stupid.
If you get a poorly-tagged album you know you can pretty much fix it in 10 seconds flat with an app like Tag & Rename, right? Means I can download scene releases without having to spend ages fixing 'em manually or having my computer full of those utterly retarded filenames.

Being a generally OCD bastard about things of this nature, I always tag everything the same way. I have around 87 gigs on my itunes and for each song it's: song title, artists, album title, track #/out of #, disc #/out of # for anything with more than one disc. I never include album artist, grouping, composer, or genre. I don't really ever do year either, although I kinda want to go through and add the year for all of them. I just don't have the drive as it would take hours.

I can edit all my tags in my music player, Amarok. Although once I spent ages fixing all the screwed up tags on Misery Is A Butterfly and then it reverted back to the old tags for some reason. It had most of the songs under the wrong title and Equus twice! AAAAAAAAHHRG.
I think I'm going to tidy up my music collection again over the winter holidays. All 1 week 4 days worth of listening of it.

I always have the year in the album folder (so they all line up nicely in chronological order when I browse through 'em) so yeah, never paid much attention to the year field in the tags.
E. Spaceman:
--- Code: ----V 2 --vbr-new --add-id3v2 --pad-id3v2 --ta "%a" --tt "%t" --tg "%m" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n" %s %d
--- End code ---
that is probebly the best way to tag your albums. On a related note, i remember that in the old days itunes had a tagging system that was a bit different from most other apps, this is probably why some of my albums are perfectly tagged in foobar, but when i switch them to itunes shit goes crazy (mostly track numbers)
