Always properly tag your music

I just thought I'd try and make sense of what this guy did that fucked the tagging's up enough to actually annoy someone for more than the 5 minutes it takes to fix them (I mean, seriously...). To me it looks like he had downloaded chunks of the record from three different people, maybe due to connections failing on P2P networks, and these three people had their version tagged consistently but different from one another.

Because I have done that. Granted, I standardised them later, but some people actually don't care.

I'm crazy pedantic about tags too, so on that note, here's a question: what do you to keep iTunes from reverting back to the original bad tags that the files had when you downloaded them?

I've capitalized all the song names on that Battles album more times than I can count...and I'd rather not add more to that total.

Kai:
the answer is pretty simple: "switch to foobar".

It auto-fills from memory. Erase the bad tag and press ok. Then edit the file(s) again and the bad tag will no longer be in iTunes' memory and it will let you input whatever the fuck you want.

I am basically as obsessive about my tags as everyone else in this thread. All my music is tagged completely and correctly except for genres, because they are not an exact science and I cannot convince myself to spent the 10+ hours it would take to fix 'em all.
