I'm sorry for bringing this back but I wanted to ask if anyone knew of a good, reasonably priced blue hair dye that I could get my hands on fairly quickly. I've been looking around and there's a few I've heard good things about but I wanted to check here before I actually paid for anything, I know there's a few people here who do quite extravagant things with their hair. I only ask 'cause the blue dye that I used on mine (a brand that I've used before with no problem whatsoever) got screwed up within about three days, which has really pissed me off, so now I want one that is good, has been used, and will pop quite bright from underneath the black without disappearing so fast. I don't mind whether it's temporary or permanent, so long as they last maybe a month or two before they need re-doing.

I don't really know anything that will last longer than about 2 weeks before it starts to fade (i generally leave mine about a month or so before re-purpling/blueing it). Affinage is the brand that my girlfriend uses for her blue and redoes it every month or so as well but her hair has been bleached to a white blonde underneath it which is really the only way to get a vibrant colour out of it for anything longer than a few days. Otherwise take yourself to a hair dresser and ask them to bleach your hair white and put a blue tint over it. You'll need to tone the shit out of as well to avoid frying your hair.

i did this to my hair three days ago. ignoring the fact that i am in severe need of a haircut, i need help with the color.

it was a motherfucker to bleach and i'm really disappointed because the green is fading already. i'm too lazy to touch it up but is there any way to prevent it from fading more? i'm using shampoo for color-treated hair but i don't know if that actually does anything.

and if i dye my hair again some other time, what color should i use? and does anybody have dye brand recommendations because i used some shit i picked up at the mall. it's called 'special effects' and it's supposed to be good but it's fading already.

In my experience with colorful hairdyes, they all fade rather fast. If you want a low maintenance hair coloring, you shouldn't go with bright colors. Just saying. (I used to dye my hair all the time. The blue I had never lasted as long as the reds, but that's because the red dye was normal dye.)

Also, I need/want a haircut, but I need to take/scan pictures of what I have/want. So maybe tomorrow.

Heeeey guys I want opinions on whether or not I should cut my hair shorter. Currently it is mid-back/bottom of shoulder blades length. Back in May before I left for the UK it was ass-long before I cut off 7 inches. Now I am kind of wondering if I should just leave it or keep playing around, since it is no longer such a pain in the ass anymore.

It looked great at tronnocon. I have trouble imagining you with shorter hair. I mean, if you cut off a few inches more it may not matter much, but i don't think drastic shortening would be a good idea. I doubt that's what you had in mind anyhoo.

Your hair's super curly, right? (The nice tight kind I'm jealous of) If you cut it shorter, won't it be annoyingly pouffy?  Mid-back seems like a great length to me.

I like your long hair a lot. I guess you could cut a few more inches off, but I wouldn't go too far above your shoulder blades.

I actually vote nay... if you cover up her face to ignore the fact that she's gorgeous, it's kind of a scruffy unkempt cut... I think bangs that short would lead to horrible bed-head and lots of cowlick/bad hair days:(

Last time I had short hair, my cowlicks were more well behaved than they are now. But I see your point, red. There's another cut in a magazine that I was leaning more towards, but I like the both of them. It's a bit longer on top and the fringe is closer to the eyebrows.

I woke up this morning and decided, so I am getting it cut this afternoon. I'll post pictures when I get home!

Yeah, I guess I am not going to cut my hair again any time soon. However, how often are you supposed to get it trimmed or whatever? Before the cut back in May I probably hadn't gotten mine trimmed in like 3 years.

Every few months? Unless you don't get split ends. But I've never had hair as long as yours, so I have no idea.

The hairs have been cut off. Picture when I wash all the gunk my hairdresser seems to enjoy out of my hair.

You should get a trim every 4-6 weeks depending on if you're trying to get it longer or maintain the length.

Your hair will like you for it.

No I get some serious split ends. Actually, when the ends start getting fuzzy and straw-like, the individual hairs somehow tie themselves in actual knots, no joke.

I had the same problem when my hair was really really long. Seriously, regular trimmings will make your hair much happier + being gentle(and starting at the bottom) when you brush it.

Looks great! I really envy you for having the guts to do that (even though you've had short hair before, if I remember correctly), I've been wanting to for a couple of years now, and I'm still too chicken. And too fat, I think, but working on it.

No brushes touch my hair ever. And if I didn't start at the ends and work my way up I'd get the comb three inches along and get it stuck.

I have not brushed my hair in years. As of now I don't really comb it too often either, which sounds gross but it actually does amazing things. When I comb my hair it gets all fluffy and I look silly.

So, I used to have hair but it got a bit long
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c306/gutyreader/IMG_2254.jpg

so I decided to shave it
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c306/gutyreader/IMG_2256.jpg

My roommate had a good laugh
<Not pictured>

and I kept the beard

NB: I took the [img] tags off, the images took too much space

Good decision? Bad decision?

Comb it wet, right after you get out of the shower (or when you're still in it, like I do). If I don't comb it out I get mats underneath and in the back (from restless sleeping) within three days.

I think it looked better with the hair, but whatever. It's not bad either way.

And my hair is getting kinda long, I'm wondering what exactly to do with it:

And a slightly aged one with a weird angle, if it helps:

Symptom- I think it would maybe look better without the mustache, if it's not too much of a pain in the ass to keep from getting scratchy. Or let the stache get long enough to join the beard:)

That's what I did for years, but it still gets fluffy when I comb it wet. My hair, though curly as hell, is actually quite thin, so with the shorter length that I have it combing separates all the curls and makes them poofy. I haven't had to deal with matting yet, so I think I'm alright. I just comb it once a month or so to fix the part and get rid of the hairs I've lost that are caught in it.

Symptom, you look loads better with hair but don't let it get that long.

Can someone get a picture of est up here for reference?

Shadic, cut it normal length. This way doesn't frame your face well at all.

Shadic: I also think you should definitely change it's shape, something shorter that you can keep from forming that round shape.. I know I'm being pretty vague but I've always been too lazy to maintain a haircut so I only ever had to worry about length... the rest I left to god.

Okay, I've had my hair split in the middle ever since, well, I had enough hair to do so, so probably 20 years. Should I continue?
or ?
Bear in mind that in the side-part-photo, the rest of my hair is kinda silly and weird because I forgot to take off the towel for like 2 hours after a shower, and I'm not as sad as I look. Plus, the haircut I have now wasn't meant for a side part, but it's time for a haircut anyways.

ETA: Sorry if they're huge, but I think it may just be my Photobucket-cache messing with me.

Hm, I guess you're right. Right now it feels all kinds of weird and awkward in a side part, but I guess it'll take time to get used to it. Damnit, it will be weird to change it, and certain people might comment and make me feel odd, but whatever. My brother saw me and couldn't stop laughing, so that wasn't a very good sign, but he might just be trying to annoy me.

Hah, this feels like a bigger decision than it should be.

Man I think the center part is fine. I part mine in the center because that is the way it naturally falls and because that way there is an even amount of hair on each side to try and keep out of my face. Side part means there is too much hair hanging in my face on one side, and plus I usually end up getting acne from leaving it across my forehead for a day or two at a time.

I think you probably would look good with a fringe, though, Ladybug.

That has basically been my reasoning for parting it in the center, but I realized tonight that parting it on the side works pretty good, because it leaves very little hair to fall in my face on one side, and on the other side I can put some hair behind my ear, and it will still sort of "hang", but not in the way. Awesomeness, even though it may not be the best look. The acne-thing does sound like a problem I might encounter, though, but I think I'll try it out for a few days and maybe get a haircut that'll work better with it, if I like it.

I don't know about a fringe, because my facial profile is odd and I don't think it would work well with a fringe. Might be wrong, but not sure if I'm willing to test it..

Thanks for the advice!

(And yes, I'm aware that brothers should usually be ignored when it comes to mockery and the like, but this brother is usually The Nice One.)

Long fringe that is easy to sweep off to the side is the kind I meant, like the 6 or 7 inch long kind; not the straight inch-long fringe that your mom thought was cute on you when you were 6.

Linds, you look great with short hair. This is true of almost all women. Take heed!

I don't entirely agree, but I don't exactly disagree either. Mostly I would suggest that such an emphatic statement is too limited. While I would agree that down to the waist is too long, hair just past the shoulders often looks great. Similarly, really short hair can look great too. There are too many variables to conclude that length alone determines whether or not a given hairstyle looks good.
