Do not try to remedy this situation with a pair of curved-blade nail scissors. Things go from bad to worse.

Oh they don't poke me in the eyes, I gues it is just weird lighting. The fringe is choppy but not uneven. It was just late and I had run my hand through my hair so many times. I will take better pictures on the weekend!

I also got my hairs did by my pretty friend Carlybutt. Luckily she loves me, so I got a discount. She got a $20 tip. I got it trimmed up nice, then she did slices in a diamond shape of caramel through and an all over color of a really rich warm brown with a little bit of reddish. It's really kinda subtle, and she made it so it'll look cutest when my hair is curly, but also super cute when it is straight.

I'm thinking about a short haircut. My hair is thick and likes to get frizzy and poofy and it's makinmecrazy. Here is my hair right after I cut off most of it in January:

These are the cuts I kinda like:

I say go for it! Mine is the same way when it's long and it's much easier to deal with when it's short. (Spray gel is my friend.)

Yeah do it Rosie! My hair is thick and wavy and has a big ringlety ol' cowlick in front but if I blow dry and use straighteners and hair goop it stays in place fine, and I have had those sort of cuts for the last like five years.

Yo dudes, hair questione!

Last time I got my hair did, the hairperson used some kind of wax-like stuff in my dashing locks; only it wasn't wax -- it was less matte, and made my hair a little dirtier-lookin' than wax would have. CLUES, forumites, is what I need right here.

yeah i use paste too, and a lot of brands also tend to have right on their products some sort of scale like "shine" and/or "hold" and then a rating along that scale so that even if you are not sure exactly what the product is, you can figure it out by looking at what it is apparently supposed to do with your hair.

So. Thread. This is what I look like now.

I need a haircut. I have been saving it for a special occasion. My question is, what do I do? I kind of want to just look like

but if I am being honest I don't have enough dress clothes to pull the look off on the regular, and it would be a disservice to do it without the clothes.

Part of me just wants to go to a barbershop and have them cut it however manly men wear their hair, but I don't really know what that means, anymore. What is a good haircut for me, thread.

It's alright. It's a straight up haircut that can't really be sneezed at. On the other hand it's not very interesting and while it doesn't look cheap it certainly doesn't look like you took the trouble of going anywhere upmarket.

You look ok?

I have met you, and how short were you thinking? I'd say no to super short like Linds and I have, because I think your face is a bit too round to pull that off, and like Manda said, you'd look very young and cutesy. If you want to go shorter than you're now I think shoulder length would look great on you, with a few layers, parted on one side and maybe a choppy fringe which would frame your face nicely.

I agree with Kris. I don't think super short would suit you, but I think a cut that sits just above the shoulder would look nice. Maybe like this or this.

Dude, you seem to look good regardless of what you do and you always have decent ideas for other people so I doubt anyone here is going to be able to help you much.

I mean I am not that worried about not looking good I just wanted someone to point me towards pictures of some hairstyles it is what the whole thread is for you know? I thought it was fair of me to ask, since I really don't know what to do and if someone doesn't help I'll just end up with a mohawk again and fux that ish.

Kieffer I honestly think what you have now is pretty okay? Keeping it longish and sort of Boyishly Charming From the 70s is a pretty good look for you, if you aren't going to be classy all the time. I think that a bit longer is fine since you have natural wave in your hair, I wouldn't go much longer than what you have.

I just like wavy hair.

Okay, so after cutting my hair off to above shoulder length over a year ago, it's now getting back to the length it used to be - i.e. nice and long. Basically, I can't be assed to wear my hair out everyday. If I wear it out, I get distracted by it, end up playing with it and it just gets grosser quicker. Lately I've just been twisting it up into a bun and leaving my fringe/bangs out. On really lazy days like today, I pin my fringe back so it's not annoying me. But, this look is kind of getting a bit boring. What are other things I can do with long hair to a) keep it out of my face b) are quick and easy and c) do not require a shitload of hair product.

The only product I put in my hair is heat protection spray and a smoother thing once it's been blow-dried and straightened. I do not want to put anything else in aside from that. A bit of hairspray is okay, just not heaps of it.

Pictures for reference. The second is to give you an idea of what my bangs normally look like. I normally straighten my hair so it sits super flat, otherwise it goes all wavy and annoying:

Well, that picture you posted of the dude from Mad Men (I assume that's the right show, I don't know I don't watch tv) is pretty good. Something like that would look good but maybe have it a bit longer?

Basically the kinds of hairstyles I think you might be leaning towards is stuff like Ethan Hawke in GATTACA, Christian Bale in American Psycho (if you want something longer), or Bruce Wayne.

Alternatively, David Bowie once had this thing going on which looks to me like kind of a longer, messier version of what you're thinking of. The good thing about that haircut is that you can slick it back much more for a cleancut image or let it hang a bit looser if you want a more laidback kind of thing.

These are the kind of haircuts I went for a few years ago but with red streaks in as well. That's probably not so much your style.

Kieffer, you're a handsome fuck. Anything short of shaving or buzzing your head and you'll look good.

Grow it out maybe. It would be the most drastic thing you could do without sacrificing fashion.

My best friend has his cut in a 1940's short back & sides, but the top is kept a little longer, that way when he is doing full on dappper chap, he can war it like Jon Hamm, but when he's out & about in jeans he can mess it up so it looks more, ummmm, I can't think of a good word. I also can't find a decent example of each, he wears hats a lot, so most of the photos of him are hat wearing ones.

Double post as it's a seperate question:

Dear Hair Advice Thread,

I'm in hair colour hell. I have had bright red hair for ages now & changed to what was supposed to be a deep purley colour & is rapidly fading, my birthday is coming up & I want to look nice, this hair colour does nothing for me,  as I'm going to be properly old I would like to have a stupid hair colour one more time, I had pink hair for about 4 years. It looked good, I want pink again.

There are 2 problems with this:

Firstly my hair is a nightmare & dry & ravaged, so bleaching it to get the pink might not be sensible.

Secondly I would probably have to dye it back after my party week as I am not only looking for work, but also staying with my folks, who would, however much they like me with pink haiur, not see it as a good job getting look.

Is it totally ridiculous to possibly ruin my hair (again) just for one week of fun? I can't decide. Help please.

HAIR THREAD.

HALP.

I wanna change the cut and colour but I have no idea what to do with it, I just know that I hate it as it is. I was thinking a darker brown, or bright red for the colour, and pretty much anything for the cut but ughhhhh.

I'm a sucker for red hair, go for that! Do you want to keep it shaved on the side? Or is it in fact just a really severe side parting at the moment? Get a fringe! You'd look cute with a sort of sweeping fringe and maybe a bit shorter all over.

Eliza go for it! Bleach the crap out of it and do it pink, then get it all cut and trimmed and have a nice moisturising dark colour put through.

And Gem I love it the way it is! That little wave on the bottom, the strawberry blonde, the shavey bit... awww. But I guess if you wanted different I think you also look really spunky with dark brown and also pinky/red and maybe sort of a cut like either of these?
