Hey, so, uhm, those of you have actually had hair short enough to notice that it grows (before it's about 15 centimeters longer) recently, how long do you think I might have to wait for this thing not to do what it is currently doing, ie. standing straight up? My hair is super straight and usually pretty flat, but I had to have some of it cut to get stitches, and while it has grown a little bit, well… It's now at the stage where it will poke out from underneath the rest of the hair if I do a side part, which I usually do, and I do not like having to practically glue it down with hair product. I know hair grows at different speeds for different people, but I have no clue about mine, and some idea about how long it will take would be awesome.

(I actually had to buy some other hair product than shampoo and conditioner for the first time ever the other day just because of this.)

Normal hair grows about one cm per month, at least that's what my hair does. No idea how long the hair has to be before it stops standing straight up though, but my bet is a couple of months from now at least.

Man, that's a long time :/ I keep forgetting to put in stuff, because I'm not used to actually having to do stuff with my hair, so I'll, like, notice later in the day that oops, I have this tuft of hair poking out. It looks sort of like how you sometimes see kids' hair when they've decided they wanted to try cutting it themselves.

I was that kid. But then my mom cut the rest of my hair to that length, which is not the best option for you. Other than product or a side part and maybe some bobby pins, I don't really know what would help. I'd suggest keeping a hat in your bag if it bothers you that much.Hopefully it'll grow quickly enough. I have a cowlick on the back of my head that almost always sticks up right after I get a haircut, but usually it only lasts for a week or so before it calms down.

Ugh, I have two cowlicks on the back of my head that makes everything much harder for both hairdressers and myself. Basically my two options are either shave them completely off like when I have short hair, or wear my hair long. At the moment I'm in the process of growing my hair out again, and I asked my hairdresser if there was any way of making the back of my hair not grow upwards and look terrible until it's long enough to not be called short anymore. She paused for a while and went "... no". Sigh!

Yeah, a hat has come in handy a few times now, and I'm considering knitting a new one in cotton, as it's getting warmer. It's not the hair so much as the fact that when it's standing straight up, it exposes the stitch-area (which hasn't healed completely even though it's been about 2 months and thus doesn't look that great) and even draws attention to it that bothers me, I guess. But yeah, I suppose I'll just have to be patient, and maybe hope that at least the wound will look better soon, if the hair takes forever.

Go to a hairdresser. Ask them for ideas, most good hairdressers will spend a few minutes to consult with you to come up with ideas.

Mine don't bother me that much, really, but then again, I texture my hair a bit more when it's that short, so it doesn't stand out that much. Usually if it's sticking up, a bit of putty helps calm it down.

I am getting a haircut Friday! I do not know if I should just ask for a trim (boring!), take in a picture, or ask this new lady to work her magic. (She has gotten glowing reviews from my friends, who also have short hair.) I need suggestions! Post some pictures! I need something short and fun! (That does not include shaving my head. The only time that will happen is when I get a fantastihawk and get my head tattooed. Which is not now.)

i think it is time for a haircut, but I'm sick of my standard style (a short layered bob, slightly longer in the front). What other options are there for girls with fairly thin hair that won't make me look 12?

These are the two different ways I've been trying it, it's still longer in the front but only about an inch long in the back. I think I prefer the first option but I have a hard time making it stay that way.

I got my hair cut! I pretty much went in and said I wanted it shorter and asked my stylist to do whatever she thought would be fun and she did a really good job! I've found a place I can go to from now on. Pics coming soon.

I'm not a fan of short hair on ladies actually so I'm going to have to say that I don't really like it. But nevermind, hair grows and I'm sure you'll be able to find a way to make it work for you, you seem to have a good feel for style and such (not my type of style but whatever).

i think your fringe is a bit too long for you to have many styling options, try trimming it just a bit and giving it some layers and texture and it will open up more options. i'm thinking something like this -
