Does anyone know how to get hair slicked back without it doing the pompadour sort of thing? I tried it today but it wasn't co-operating.

Hannah, your hair is great.

Thanks for not cutting it dyke short like every other girl on the planet.

I sat on mine today.

Hannah, it is good! What does it look like when it goes back curly? Or did you get it relaxed or some shit?

I do not know! I have been leaving it straight (though it has gotten some waves in it because my hair hates being straight) for as long as I can, but I will probably wash it tomorrow before work and see how it goes.

But if you must shear it, go go gadget curlyhawk.

Haven't had a haircut in about a year and a half.  Want a classier look before it becomes metal hair.

I've been thinking something like flash sideways Desmond Hume or Batman Begins Cilian Murphy

I'm open to critique or radical suggestions.  I seem to have the hair, but not the forehead for their respective looks.

I can't speak for anyone else but for me it's because I have immensely thick and wavy hair which is a bitch to take care of. Knots everywhere! Right now I have to wash my hair like once a month, if that.

Probably gonna grow it out again now, anyways. I got a haircut before I left so it should probably be getting good 'n' shaggy just as it starts to get proper cold.

My hair has always been really thick, and really straight.  I've gotten a few knots before, but it's never been a big issue for me.  Mostly having to wear a hat or having my hair blind me at inopportune moments (like when I'm machining) has been the most annoying part.  I could never pull off metal hair.  I can't grow proper facial hair, or play the solos.  Also, as crappy as it is, I think most people wouldn't take me as seriously in a professional setting. (If they do now)

Dude you look like you're in the fucking Strokes right now.

Get a nice denim jacket and keep your hair exactly the way it is. Once it gets longer than that, trim it back to this length.

Dyed black hair can really be hit or miss.  The roots become apparent pretty fast if you have naturally lighter hair, which can be a good thing because it can mean redying pretty quickly and changing it if you don't like it.

Dude you look like you're in the fucking Strokes right now.

Get a nice denim jacket and keep your hair exactly the way it is. Once it gets longer than that, trim it back to this length.

This may be the best physical compliment I have ever gotten, and am seriously considering this proposal despite really needing a haircut.

The problem with going black is it is SO HARD to cover up if you don't like it.
I find black makes me look really pallid and washed out, and also it shows up if I have pimples or reddish blotches.
Try a really really dark brown instead, it adds just a touch of warmth that I find works heaps better.

you could also try semi-permanent to see how you like the colour first, then if it sucks it'll wash out in a few weeks.

So, I somehow managed to miss the responses to my last post until now. I tried using some hair gel stuff that I had, but even after I had enough in there that I probably wouldn't need a hard hat anymore, I couldn't get it to not poof up in front. Is there a secret I'm missing, or is pomade really that much stronger than gel?

For the last year or so, I've had layered, swept over bangs and then just let it grow until it was too long. I kind of want something different now. Here are some pictures of me right now. Bear in mind that short hair all over looks really shitty on me.

I don't mind if I have to do a little bit to it in the morning but nothing to time consuming.

edit: whoa big pictures

It's decided, I'm getting a hair cut and dying my hair a mixture of black and green (like this). Only issue is whether I go short or long.
Short (on me, safe for work)
Long (on some naked lady, NSFW)

I'm partial to short personally but the lady seems to have very similar hair to me, thick and wavvy. I'm not sure.

Guys, this may not be strictly hair related, but these last few days I've been pondering something which might count as EXTRA HERETICAL in some circles.

I'm kinda considering shaving my beard. It's gotten pretty mighty after a good three months, but some part of me wants to start over, or try living without the comfort of a manly beard again. A walk on the wild side, if you will.

People, talk me out of this madness.

But you are a woman, so you are in the same position as if you were a bearded man.

Me on the other hand, I'm more like Justin Beiber. And I can't grow a beard (and my girlfriend would object if I did).
