i almost bought a Mogwai cd today. but then i remembered that i'd never heard Mogwai and decided to buy something i already knew i liked instead. gotta be fiscally responsible, ya know?

Also I would like to point out that the combination of Sailor Moon and faux-Kerouac / Sonic Youth spelling is perhaps the purest distillation of what this forum is that we have yet been presented with.

There is almost no way that your purchase was more worthwhile than whatever Mogwai CD you'd been looking at.

well, i didn't know if Mogwai would be my style or not. they play post-rock, right? post-rock is extremely hit or miss for me. some i hate, some i love. i didn't wanna risk it. i'm not the gambling type.

besides, i went there with the specific intention of buying another cd anyway.

in case it's important, the two they had were Mr. Beast or something, and one with a longer title and some guys face on the cover.

Eh, Mogwai play "post-rock" in the same sense you would say that Pink Floyd played "rock".  They don't have what you probably think of as a "typical post-rock sound".  They are definitely heavier at times and also have more of a sense of song structure and, for lack of a better way of putting it, are more "rock" than "post-".

That other one would have been Come On Die Young.
And if you hadn't realized from previous posts, it would be better to start with Mr. Beast if you only had those two options

Ah, I wouldn't have expected it to be that film score.  And plus, Come On Die Young has some guy's face on it too.  Your record store tricked me!  How dare they

It's the soundtrack to a biopic about Zidane, and Mogwai, being big football fans, did the soundtrack for it.  It's their weakest album, but it's not bad at all.
