I was the other way round. I listened to the album once kinda half paying attention and it seemed pretty ok. Then I gave it the time of day and dear god, angry hornets assaulting my eardrums with chainsaws! Oh no wait, that's a guy. And he's... s... he's sin... he's singing? Well I'll take your word for it sir.

Several other songs are too actually, as are a number of the lyrics throughout. That song is only the most obvious example. Jeff Mangum himself said The Diary of Anne Frank was a direct influence on much of the album.
