jeph:
dammit Spluff beat me to it  :x :x :x

Muppet King:
I still find one or two tracks that I enjoy listening to around five minutes of...unfortunately those songs are usually around sixteen minutes long.

The only album by them I have thoroughly enjoyed was De-Loused.  Aside from that I'll take At the Drive In over Mars Volta any day.

tomselleck69:
There were a couple songs on Amputechture that made me wonder if they were maybe going to start scaling it back a little, but the new one has crushed that hope.

Maybe the next time one of them dies they will do a concept record that is outwardly straightforward, catchy and unambitious---only once it is "decoded" with a special iTunes-only track, does it become clear that it's another overwrought allegorical Mars Volta bullshit-fest.

KITTENS!!!:
...and then came the 'enlightened' frat boys.

Johnny C:
Everyone missed this joke the first time I made it, so I'll just repeat it here.

It's jaw-dropping.
