Wait... it depends.  By listen to, I mean, put on in the background while I and my friends get drunk and ignore the music.  If you're actually listening to ska while there's no sunshine, bbq and beers, you're doing it wrong.

Sometimes as a concession to summer if I am in a really good mood I will put like, Korpiklaani or Finntroll on instead of Xasthur or Anaal Nathrakh or whatever.

Sometimes.

Finntroll, huh?  Clearly those classes at the community center on how to balance your "chi" have really been paying off.

Finntroll

The girl I made out with a couple weeks ago was a fan of Finntroll. I heard it and I decided it was like Golden Bough had a love child with a Swedish metal band.

I took a lot of ibuprofen that day.

Finntroll is good music to fry on mushrooms in the woods to.

I like one Finntroll song, Trollhammaren. Me and my friend discovered it one day a couple of years ago and we just though it was rather novel.

If you like Trollhammaren, you pretty much like every Finntroll song.

Still one of the defining high points of my life was being lifted atop a crowd at Wacken 2006, drunk off my skull, right at the most awesome point of Slaget Vid Blodsalv.

Hepcat is good.

Not as good as The Pietasters, though.

or No Doubt, for that matter?

I know people have already discussed this somewhat, but I've been thinking about this for a long time and I've come to this conclusion about No Doubt (I was a huge fan for a long time so I know what I'm talking about).

No Doubt made a steady decline from album to album, drifting away from ska a little bit more.
With their first one that they sold out of the back of a van, that was ska, with songs like Trapped in a Box... Tragic Kingdom, that also would be considered ska, with the brass, pounding bass, and crazy sounding vocals.  Return of Saturn is the beginning of their transition to more pop-rock, it was also more mellow and used way more electronics than Tragic.  And then finally, Rock Steady, they just went off the fucking deep end with that shit.  I liked the album, but it was more influenced by the Jamaican house scene (that was where the went to record btw) than ska.

So there you have it.  That's my analysis of the No Doubt music style.

that's not really a conclusion.

you could draw a conclusion based on that information (i.e. "they did that because _____") but basically you just said "this happened, then this happened, and then later this happened" which isn't a conclusion.

Conclusion: No Doubt did it 'cause they figured it'd sell well.

Didn't their first lead singer kill himself in a park or something?

I am a big fan of The Aquabats, Reel Big Fish, Save Ferris, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and select Catch 22.

SKA IS NOT DEAD TO ME YET!

It saddens me that someone's already posted my list of favorite ska-ish bands ._.

ish because Aquabats are iffy for me.

It should sadden you that like 9 people have posted that exact same list, some of them twice. That's what started this thread.

Did anybody ever listen to these guys?  Their major debut was a trainwreck, but early independent stuff was cool.  They were from my hometown and huge when I was in high school-
